Coming from JHB, it was a simple drive on the N12 which "slipped" onto the N4, direction to Maputo, at Witbank level. At Komatipoort one just needed to turn left into the little town, drive straight through and about 8 kms further, turn left into CROC BRIDGE SAFARI LODGE, conveniently situated about 150m from the Crocodile Bridge entrance into the Kruger Park; what a pleasure, especially at the end of a long drive through one's selected area of the Park - no need to travel another longish distance to get to one's resort. So on arrival at the LODGE, a great, friendly and jovial welcome from Scott Walker and his lovely wife, Caron who showed as immediately to our chalet - it is simply a treat in there. A clean, practical yet homely decorated room with a most comfortable bed and a well-planned bathroom with shower all done out with bamboo walls - most exotic. The air-conditioning was especially welcome at the end of a hot day. After driving through the Game reserve which was an absolute delight for us - saw plenty- how wonderful to come "home' and dip into a cool swimming-pool and relax on the loungers around the pool while viewing the animals coming down to the Crocodile River (at the end of the day). The river is right in front of the resort and again, there is plenty to see. Evenings and supper time: what a joy to just have to cook one's meat on a prepared braai and salads and vegies all laid on by Caron who ensured always that everybody had a decent, healthy meal at night. One gets to meet fellow-residents who have also just returned from a tour of some area of the reserve and then everybody starts "exchanging notes" and showing photos about what they saw and where. The residents we met were all from Europe or the USA and it was especially interesting to hear their views about RSA. All we can say is that we were VERY sorry when the time came to leave. It is not often that we have left a resort with a such heavy heart. Thank you very much again, Caron and Scott for the superb stay in your home. Oh, did I forget to mention that if you prefered to take yourself out to dinner in the evening, one can enjoy a superbly cooked, abundant, seafood dish (for 2) at the Mozambican Restaurant in Komatipoort. A bit pricey but when you see what is served for 2 people, you DO end up with a "doggy bag".
