Securing a place here can be quite difficult. We had to utilize a cancellation subscription website, https://campnab.com/, to find an available slot. The process was smooth and we continued to observe more availability even after we had booked our own. The campsite is beautiful and lush with foliage. Mobile network reception was good, allowing us to work remotely without any issues. The area is often visited by deer who are accustomed to human presence. We didn't make use of the amenities so we can't provide any insight on that. The historic district is roughly a 25-minute drive away. We made a few trips by car and once hailed an Uber when we planned to go out for drinks. Parking can be problematic if you're driving. It's best to opt for parking garages, unless you're fortunate. If a parking spot is available three blocks away from your destination, it's advisable not to ignore it. Uber rides cost us around $30-35 during the early evening, but the fare increased to around $90 when we returned close to midnight. Still, it's a safer option than risking a traffic violation. Overall, it's a fantastic camping location. Spot #65 is at a corner and maneuvering our 35ft 5th wheel into it was a bit tricky. We wouldn't recommend this spot for larger vehicles. Apart from that, it was a perfect location.

Successfully managed to spend two days midweek at one of the most challenging parks to secure a booking at, or so I've heard. I'm not certain about the reason. The top-tier pull-through spots with full hook-up are the best choice, but they're limited. We got there a day following a two-day downpour, and numerous sites, including #74, had muddy entrances and exits. We spent $98, including taxes and fees, for two nights at a pull-through, horse shoe-shaped site, equipped with 50 amp and water. The majority of the campground roads are single lane, not one-way, and are narrow, tree-lined, and root-bumpy. I found myself in a face-off with a 40-foot bus, and I was determined not to be the one to reverse. He was able to fit into an unoccupied spot to let me pass. The premium pull-through spots, playgrounds, store, trails, and camp hosts all earn a five-star rating.

Our initial visit to this location was fantastic and we certainly plan to return. This superb state park offers large camping areas surrounded by numerous trees. The park's walking paths are ideal for dog walks. The park personnel were amiable and the souvenir shop was well-supplied. Although our site didn't have sewage hookups, a dumping station was available. We're definitely planning another trip!

The campsite was lovely and it wasn't difficult to reach the city center of Savannah during the day. Skidaway Island is peculiar due to its single road that leads to a massive gated community. However, facilities like a supermarket, fuel station, and bank are conveniently located just beyond the boundaries of the state park. I relied on AT&T for streaming services and experienced download speeds of less than 10 Mbps and upload speeds of around 1 Mbps. The washroom facilities were not temperature regulated, resulting in a consistent moisture presence, with damp walls, wet toilet paper, mirrors, and floors.

We decided to halt for the night here at the last minute. The digital reservation system was efficient, allowing us to book and pay for our spot the previous evening. During our journey, an employee reached out to us, briefing us on how to check in after working hours. The trickiest part was finding our spot in the dark. Although we were given a map of the campground and directions, there were no specific signposts. Arriving during daylight hours would have been easier. The spot was listed online as a back-in, but it was actually a pull-through. The ground was mostly flat and covered in dirt, with a concrete patio and a picnic table. The area was roomy and there was a decent amount of space between spots. A restroom was located across the street. The utilities provided were limited to water and electricity, which were situated at the front of the spot. If you have hose and cord extensions, you'll have more flexibility in setting up your spot. The internal and access roads were straightforward to navigate. Despite only staying for one night, we would definitely consider a longer stay here in the future.

Although Georgia residents, we had never visited Skidaway Island SP before. Our per-night rate reflects Georgia residency and over 62 years of age. The normal daily rate is $46 at this time. This campground was perfect for our needs. We stayed in camping area #1. We drive our van camper on all of our day trips and left and returned each day for short side trips. Most sites are spacious, flat, level, and pull-through. Site 18, like most others on the outside section of each camping area, was adjacent to a wooded area and marsh, making it feel secluded. One of our daily visits was to Wormsloe State Historic Site, only 8 miles from Skidaway SP, and was well worth our time. The Skidaway SP map included a $2 discount coupon on Wormsloe admission, per person for 1 to 6 people. We also hiked on the trails at Skidaway, which were typical of Coastal Georgia and to us, very beautiful. We saw many large and remarkable trees throughout the campground and park. Our site had electrical and water hookups, but no sewer. We used a dump station. The Bathhouse in our camping area was a large building with individual bathrooms with individual entrances from outside; they were spacious and clean. The Visitor's Center is the point of check-in and the Rangers were helpful with information and directions. We were telephoned prior to our arrival to confirm and given the gate passcode should we be late. During our travels, we try to stay in State and National Parks and Lands. By doing that we generally avoid commercial crowding and higher expense; and experience the great beauty of this country. The sacrifice is probably fewer conveniences and lags in updating. So yes, a few tree roots disrupted some walkways and driveways, but not so much that they were impassable or even difficult. The only sites that I would avoid in the future are 1-10; we drove through that area and that was too crowded for us. We walked to and from our hikes through the other camping areas and did not see any others that we would particularly avoid.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on our way home from Disney. Spacious sites with good separation between sites. They preemptively called us while in route to confirm our anticipated arrival time. Gave us our site number over the phone in case we didn't make it during office hours. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Beautiful Park. Large sites. Clean bathrooms with shower. I was site 15. A big rig would not fit it this site due to passing between 2 close trees. This park could be a 5-star park except for the tightness of trees and the road condition. Be careful when choosing a site. Look at pictures first. There were also coyotes in the woods, so be careful of pets and small children.

Site 66. We stayed here in October of 2022. Our site was a big pull through (loop shaped) site with electric and water. We were glad we had an extra long water hose and electric cable as it gave us more leeway to park in the best, most level part of the site. The sites are packed sand. We were near the shower/bath/laundry building, but not so close that it impeded on our privacy. The bath house was clean and modern, and the laundry room had 2 each washer/dryer. We had a good signal On T-mobile. We will definitely stay here again.

The campground feels remote, but just outside the park is the City of Savannah. Sites are large, clean and not facing each other. Bathhouses are clean.

So to start absolutely loved the park. Sites are nice and big super clean showers were nice good pressure hot water the dump station is close by as well as the garbage cans. Lots of trails to walk around and very easily breakable just east of it is a Publix and a lot of golf cart trails that you can ride around on a walk Savannah is only about 25 minutes away and any other kind of shopping need to do is equal distance. Only thing I can actually give it a bad mark one was some of the roads around the campground very uneven lots of roots road is narrow and tree line so if you have a bigger ring and makes it difficult or at least tedious as we have a 40 foot fifth wheel other than that if you have anything smaller you should have absolutely no problem water pressure was good at the sites electrical work wonderfully in the campground was clean my hats off to work camper host is there working by himself was doing a pretty good job

Nice base camp to explore the area. Plenty of things to see and do nearby. The Aquarium is just a few miles away as are a list of others on the campground map. Groceries are close by and yet the campgrounds are tucked away in the woods. Saw deer passing through on 2 occasions. Sites have electric and water. Site numbering is odd and not sequential. I believe it is arranged according to what amperage the site has, so closely check the map you get when checking in. Most sites are well shaded and spaced apart. I would definitely go there again. Only drawback was T-Mobile cell service. I need a new signal booster! The neighbor had no issues with his newer/better booster.

Nice Sites. Pretty Level But Getting To Some of the back sites was tight in our 40’. Road was narrow and lots of tree roots. Very quiet and peaceable. Store within walking or biking distance. Great walking trails and bathrooms and laundry were good.

This is a beautiful campground that has the typical South Carolina coastal appearance with the overhanging live oak trees. Our site was a pull thru that accommodated our 25' trailer but probably the largest you would want to get in the site. The campground was clean and well taken care of and the showers were clean and large. We were in the campground loop #1 I think it has recently been up dated and appeared nicer than the other loops. But all were fine

This is our favorite go to campground in Georgia. The sites are spacious and are surrounded by oaks, palmettos and Spanish moss. Wildlife is plentiful, we have seen deer, raccoons, piliated woodpeckers, Mississippi kites and more. The trails are well maintained and go through diverse landscapes. There are also plenty of places and activities nearby for the whole family.

Really great level pull through site. Gravel driveway. 30 amp + water. Fire pit area/tent platform is made of clay. We were there in a downpour and the tent platform took 3 hrs to drain. It was a lake. I’m told the day before it rained harder and for longer and the roads were completely flooded. Overall great ambience with lots of shade. I’d stay here again.

Yes, there is plenty of shade. But in the summer it is HUMID!!! Not recommended for a summer stay. I have not actually stayed here, but I've lived in Georgia all my life and in Savannah for several years. Expect gnats and mosquitos also.

There is so much to see and do in this gorgeous Georgia State Park. As you enter, the sight of the many Live Oaks draped with Spanish Moss will surely take your breath away. We were directed to the visitor center to check in. The people working there are nice, helpful and accomodating. Most sites are large (AND I MEAN LARGE) pull-throughs. The restrooms and laundry facilities were clean and in good working order. A part of the Colonial Coastal Bird Trail, take some time if you're there during the Spring and Summer months to spot a Painted Bunting. The Visitor's Center is a great place to see them. We went on a three mile bike ride on The Big Ferry Trail where we saw the remains of an old liquor still; and The Earthworks, defense mounds built by slaves during the Civil War. The park is very close to Downtown Savannah.

We enjoyed our stay at Skidaway. We only stayed 2 nights while passing through GA. Our campsite was a full hookup site and while you could see campers behind us and and the one directly next to us, it was still far enough away from everyone to be peaceful. Our left side (“driver’s” side) was up against forest. Our site was also pretty level. The proximity to downtown Savannah is great while still being out of the city. We only used the bathrooms once but they were nice and well maintained. We had a nice little area right across from us that we could walk our dogs to potty and then there’s also a hiking trail down the street you can walk to. There are raccoons that hang around so if you leave anything outside they will get into it but they didn’t bother us or the dogs while we were there. The checkin process was seamless for us, they called the day of and said that if we would be getting there after hours (which we did) that they would leave our pamphlet taped to the visitor center window. While we didn’t use it, the dump station seemed to be pretty busy the morning we left (Sunday) with a line of people waiting.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have been to. The sites are large and have beautiful oak trees and Spanish moss. The trails are well maintained and everything is centrally located. We stayed in site 85 before moving to site 3 so we could have full hookups for a few nights. When we were in site 85, we had daily deer visitors that came right through our campsite. Only a few sites have full hookups, but I think adding to that number is really the only thing they could do to improve the campground. It was very big rig friendly at least when we comes to the size of the sites, but some of the roads around the campground probably get a little tight. Even though there is water all around, there is no water access within the park. There is a launch only a few miles outside the park entrance, though. It’s an easy drive into Savannah for sight seeing. We used the park as our home base to explore the area and would do that again any time. ATT cell service was adequate, but not great. I could work without putting up the cell booster, but wouldn’t be good enough for anything requiring high bandwidth.

Skidaway Island Campground was excellent. Our stay at Skidaway was in November, 2021. This was our first time staying at a Georgia State Park, and the experience was outstanding. We had heard that Georgia State Parks were some of the best, and that definitely proved to be the case. Check-in was a breeze with knowledgeable and friendly staff at the Visitors Center. The campground had good spacing between sites with lots of trees and vegetation. The bathhouse facilities were well maintained and very clean at all times. Clothes washers and dryers were available in the bathhouses as well. Campsites had hook-ups for water and electric and pads were graveled and level. Some of the asphalt roads within the campground could have used some attention but were certainly passable. Verizon cell coverage was generally acceptable but was a little inconsistent....just took a little extra patience from time to time. The campground was an easy 20 min. drive to historic downtown Savannah which had fairly easy parking with great site-seeing, shopping, restaurants and bars. We really enjoyed our stay at Skidaway and will definitely come back.

Someone in a Facebook group recommended this state park when I asked about where to stay around Savannah. Their recommendation turned out to be a great one. There are a some sites that are pull-through and full hook-up and we are in one of them. Large sites. Lots of room between sites. Hook-ups were fine. Lots of trees which is probably great in the summer but a bit chilly in the winter months. Narrow roads with trees right next to them so navigating for some may be a challenge. Dump station conveniently located on the way out for most campers. Great staff - friendly and helpful. Nice visitor center. Trails for leisurely walks or bike riding. Quiet and peaceful. Close to a Publix grocery store. Not to far from downtown Savannah. No wi-fi provided so bring your own. There are Comfort Stations (restrooms) and laundry. Definitely recommend.

Site had plenty of room and a large tent pad which came in handy since we were without a tow vehicle last minute so we used two small tents instead. The office deducted $10 from the original $45 a night since we were in tents. Most sites were pull through and they are spread out enough that you have a decent amount of privacy. Bathrooms were a short walk but still close enough. They were cleaned daily and in working order. Laundry room was available and clean as well. Visitor center is newer and staff was very friendly and helpful. Our kids enjoyed visiting the snakes on display as well. Trails were all clear and pretty scenery. The lookout tower was a little underwhelming. The top floor was closed and the tower didn’t seem completely stable. Playground seemed fairly new and had a lot to offer and there is a nearly outdoor exercise area as well. Overall we really enjoyed the park. We have been once before and would come back again.

We could only get one night but it was still a treat to stay. The sites are separated giving your privacy from your neighbor. Power was stable and water had sufficient pressure. The tree covered site may pose a tad of a challenge for those using only solar but it’s worth it. The comfort station was very clean.

The park and facilities are very nice. Our campsite was near the bathhouse in our loop. The hiking is very is scenic and easy and gives you a nice way to discover coastal Georgia. My only complaint comes from making the mistake of leaving our water hose and filter at the campsite when we traveled into Savannah for dinner one afternoon. While we were gone either a work camper came by and removed it or it was stolen. Regardless, as we were leaving the next day park personnel were less than helpful in trying to determine what might have happened to the hose and filter. And that's really understatement. No help is basically what I got. The filter was relatively inexpensive, but the hose was not a cheap one. Our price per night reflects the discount we received which includes the senior rate that basically paid for the hose and filter that were stolen.

Our first experience with a State Park and what a great one! As Canadian Snowbirds on our first trip South for the winter, what a great way to start off the trip! The site was huge, the hook-ups were great, nice trails and close to Savannah. We highly recommend this State Park as the rates are reasonable for us over 62 years young, and it is simply beautiful!

Wow! I can't say enough about how great this place it. It is the most beautiful campground I have been in, with huge trees and spanish moss. Checkin at the office was easy and the staff super friendly. Our site was a pull in (electric only) and easy to get into and out of. We were plenty far from other RV's to feel like we had our own space. We did not use thier bathroom facilities, so cannot comment on those. We took several walks along the multiple trails in the park and saw many birds and other wildlife. One of the trails is also a bike trail if you would rather bike. There are several nice playgrounds a short walk from the campsites. At night we feel asleep to the hooting of owls. It is close enough to Savannah for easy day visits and going out to dinner. We ended up wanting to stay in the area for several hours after checkout and they let us park in thier large parking lot near the visitor center for the cost of a day parking pass.

Large sites, clean bathrooms, hot showers and clean laundry room. Showed up after hours and a welcome package was there as we were told by the friendly staff. Site was a bit difficult to locate in the dark but that was no fault of the park… Very quiet campground, nice hiking trails with lots of deer. Nice area to bike ride. Sites are very spacious, gravel pull thru with a large concrete pad, fire pit and picnic table. Close access to Tybee Island, grocery stores but a 25 minute drive to Savanah.
