Well kept ACE campground that a convenient stop over for a night or a week to work. Town is just a few miles away and a good handful of sites have a view of the lake. The sites closer to the lake are more open with a scattering of oak trees but further off the lake, it is actually a pretty heavily covered and shaded area. We chose a site closer to the lake with fewer tress to make sure our cell signal was as strong as possible. Some of the sites have strangely positioned fire rings and shade structures which are awkwardly close to the neighbor and others have plenty of space around them. Unboosted Verizon 4 down, 2 up. AT&T 16 down, 8 up. Assuming due to COVID, the entrance shack was not staffed despite it stating on recreation.gov it was open 10-8. A sign on the window says if you don't have reservations to turn around however, same day reservations are available online so we backed up and made a reservation. Just an FYI for those who can't back up and then are stuck at the gate without a reservation which includes the gate code. We would definitely stay again.

Maintained by the ACOE, this campground is about 45 minutes from the Waco scene (Dr Pepper Museum, Magnolia Market, etc). It is a relatively quiet location with little to no traffic noise from the adjacent highway. Sites have standard grill, fire ring, and picnic table. Most of the north sites are only 30amp and have water spigots. Sites close to the lake appear to be 50amp and have covered pavilions at each site with a picnic table, grill and fire ring. Amenities include a bathhouse, restrooms, playground (closed due to COVID), dump station w/ clean out, and plenty of areas to swim down by the boat ramp. ***Only negative during our stay was overgrown Oaks, it's time to trim the canopies!! We are 12' 8" clearance and our A/C's were hitting branches.***

We stay here because it’s a few minutes from our children/grandchildren. It’s quiet, other than a little distant highway noise. It’s directly across the lake from Dead Fish Grill, a very good restaurant with a beautiful view, that we’ve been going to for years. The campground bathrooms and showers here are VERY clean and heated. Great place to shower.

Campsites are asphalt and relatively level - 2” off left to right. Loved the adjacent parking space beside each site on that loop. Additional parking is also available. The only reason I didn’t give this place a five star rating was because they do not enforce quiet hours and our site neighbors were outside partying until 03:00! The second night, they didn’t party as hard or perhaps they took it inside.

We chose this park for its proximity to the northeast corner of the Texas Hill Country. Plus the price was right at $10 per night using my trusted senior lifetime pass. The park did promise use of a washer and dryer which was true, but the facility was a bit dirty and the washer had seen better days. We did get two loads done and it is always nice to have clean sheets and a stain-less shirt. The park itself doesn’t offer much for us as campers who do not fish. Nowhere really to get a good bike ride in, but a few spins around the campground would have to suffice. What the campground did offer was a safe place to base camp and take day trips to different locales in the area. Having A/C is also nice for Bob the dog so he can remain comfortable for a couple hours as we drive around looking for cowboys and interesting scenery and architecture. The shower rooms were some of the best ever with plenty of hot water and pressure, with the stalls having clean and proper maintenance. Day trips into the likes of growing Georgetown with its Blue Hole and historical preservation, or little towns of Weir and Granger on the drive back to Live Oak Ridge make for memorable events. Eating smoked brisket and ribs at the Backyard BBQ less than two miles from the campground on Morgan’s Point Road is also quite fun, as well as a hike with Bob the dog in Miller Springs Park directly across the road from the campground entrance. Hard for me to rate this camp as there really were no significant trails or roads to ride my bike. But AT&T was a strong two bar service which provided suitable DirectTVNow streaming with the Nighthawk hotspot. The weather was very hot and our trailer sat mostly in direct sun all day. Note the higher numbered sites farthest away from the water do provide plenty of shade and overhanging branches.

We loved it so much the first time we had to stay again. (We had previously stayed in April 2017 in site #25). Some sites have a view of Belton Lake and some have lots of shade. The showers were very clean. There is a laundry room near the entrance. There is a security gate too. There was a great playground for our kids to run around. They have water, electric, and a dump station. Sights are pretty level. There is also a boat ramp but due to recent flooding, it was not accessible.

What a gem of a state park, beautifully spaced out sites along Belton Lake. Good location in central Texas – easy to get to, but there is some road work going on in Temple Texas which caused us to do some re-routing – otherwise, easy to find with well-marked signage on the road. The pleasant breeze off the lake offered a welcome respite from the 90+ heat we have been having. TravelinJack the RV dog was able to take a swim in the lake more than a couple times. He is happy here. Campground kids are all having a blast swimming at the boat ramp. Lots of grass, shady trees and open spaces. The sites are all paved and level and each have a nice large picnic table with a cover above for shade. Most sites can accommodate larger rigs. A number of boaters are here and they occupy sites closer to the boat ramp, which is fine We took site 7 a little further away from the ramp so we are not getting the boater traffic. The campground is for camper only and not a day use campground keeping outside traffic to a minimum. Bathhouses all very clean - one shower per bathhouse so plans ahead or take a shower at low-peak hours. W/E hook ups and 30 Amp worked fine. Dump station is very clean with lots of space to work while not obstructing any traffic. We will definite do over. Some highway noise from the causeway over the nearby dam but not bothersome in the least.

This was our first camping experience in our new RV and we had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. The campground was very clean and quiet. The lake is closed right now due to flooding, but the views were great. Our only negative was our specific site and the fact that the picnic table and burn pit were positioned far and awkward from our site. Almost all the other sites had a much better set-up. We would absolutely stay here again and probably will in the fall.

The host at the gate gave us a many times over copied map and no hints on the layout. We ended up heading down the boat ramp which meant dropping the toad on a slope and then backing the rig up. As foolish as we felt for making that mistake, another rig started to turn down the same way until they saw us. Once we got situated, the stay was pleasant. It's worth parking the rig near the entrance and walking around to find the layout. The lake view loop is off of what appears to just be access to the dump station. Wi-Fi is free, but has a very weak signal. We couldn't get it at the site.

There are too many other places to camp to put up with rude attendants. It ruins the whole experience. The campground was very nice, but the person they chose to put at the gate to greet the public was rude and condensending.
