Terrible experience! Our visit last summer was extremely disappointing. The campsites were cramped with inadequate water and electricity supply. A group of individuals camping in the middle were partying throughout the weekend, with no intervention from the camp host. The host was often absent during the weekends, and even if present, would retire early, allowing for any kind of behavior. There were no recreational activities available and additional charges were levied for the pool and bands. We were assured of improvements this year, but upon returning, we found the place in shambles. Camping in the regular campground was impossible unless one was prepared to forego water, electricity, and sewer facilities. Despite promises made last year of installing sewer facilities, only the water and electricity supply was being revamped. They did provide a dump station for use. The upper campground was accessible only via a steep, winding, narrow road, unsuitable for RVs and more appropriate for small campers or tents. To add insult to injury, the prices were significantly hiked this year. The woman with short, curly hair who managed the office during the weekends was extremely rude and unprofessional. Her behavior was so off-putting that we decided not to stay and have vowed never to return. The available camping area was small and cramped, making it challenging to maneuver a large vehicle. The campground was almost deserted. We used to visit a few times a year for events and had made several local friends who camped there throughout the season. However, we only encountered one this time. Many have sold their campers and relocated to other campgrounds. It's unfortunate to see the campground deteriorate to this extent, resulting in significant business loss. Considering the current charges, one can pay slightly more for a superior campground with recreational activities. This place lacks activities, has an outdated pool that requires an additional fee, and a game room is non-existent. Several rules are in place but are not enforced. This place might be suitable for someone just passing through

In October 2022, we set up camp here for a couple of nights as we journeyed southwards from Maine towards North Carolina. The experiences shared by previous visitors pretty much sum it up. We registered at the front desk and were given the freedom to choose any available spot. We chose a location near the so-called "river" (even though it wasn't visible, it ensured our privacy) that had easy access to electricity and water. The ground wasn't perfectly flat, but it was manageable. We enjoyed the scenic view behind us and the impressive structure to the east. The place was filled with families and adorned with Halloween decorations, which added to the fun! There was a waste disposal area as we departed and the host was friendly.

Agree with other review. Easy registration and easy set up in pull through site, overlooking mountains and river. All size rigs. Friendly staff and host. $19 with Golden Access Pass. Quiet, peaceful, pretty.

Rate reflects a PA discount that can be applied for all nights stayed. First come, first served. This is a large, green, level, open field with electric (30A/50A) and water hookups dispersed throughout. The scenery was lovely and we thoroughly appreciated moonrises over the mountains. We rolled in early in the week during the annual 'Guy's Jam' bluegrass gathering (woops). Therefore, we did experience what we assume was a much busier camping area than typical. Management here is pretty poor. The woman working in the office is cantankerous and not forthcoming with information. We were never told that there was an upper campground area (which we likely would have tootled up to based on the festival going on). Instead, we wiggled into a spot behind the baseball field with 50A and water hookups. The ground was hard enough that we weren't too concerned about sinking in/rain. On the 3rd day of our stay, a group of locals arrived with 2 trailers, wriggled (literally) into the non-space between our rig and our neighbors, and hooked into the 30A breaker on the pedestal we were using 50A on. All weekend we got to step out of our front door into our new neighbors sitting area. The strangest part was that these new neighbors were NOT part of Guy's Jam, but just locals looking to go 'camping'... with 20 of their closest friends. It was the most awkward camping setup we've 'enjoyed' yet... The only other detractions from this camping area is that it is buggy (and ticky) and there is a train nearby. There also isn't much happening in town, but there are a few places to eat. Some other perks.. there is an ice cream shop right on site! Open Tues - Sat. Trails wind from the Lower camping area to the Upper area. Verizon and AT&T data were solidly usable, although some congestion occurred Friday and Saturday when the shindig was in full swing.

We stopped here on our way to Maine. It is conveniently located off I-81 in lovely Buena Vista, VA. The staff is very friendly and laid back. I had called ahead about reservations and was told not to worry. We showed up on a Friday late afternoon and signed in at the office. $28 for a site with water and electric (20, 30, 50) . After registering we drove into the camping area, which is a huge flat grassy field, and picked a spot near a hookup box. Simple. Very little leveling was required and I didn't even have to unhook the trailer from our car. There are some partly shady spots near the river and the tree line on the far side of the field, but we were in the open. There were a lot of campers but it was still very quiet and nice. The bathhouse was clean and well maintained, although we used our own facilities due to Covid, but I wouldn't have worried about using the bathrooms as they were clean and nearly deserted. It would be a great base from which to explore the area, but for us it was a pleasant stopover in our journey. Decent cellphone coverage on Verizon. Any size rig will find a spot.

We stopped here for a unplanned last minute one night stay. We wanted to check out Natural Bridge but didn't want to fork out the cash for the parks nearby. We found this park and didn't have high hopes but were pleasantly surprised with the very friendly informative staff, the huge spaces, and of course the price! (price was with Passport America). The staff made us feel welcome and they have a very relaxed way of doing things, like no check in or check out time, park where you want and no reservations. You can call ahead and find out how busy it is before arriving though. They have ice and a small ice cream shop but we didn't check it out on our stay. It is all grass parking and is basically all open. Beware of flying foul balls from the baseball field but we parked at the last spot down by the creek and never had any issues. There are electric and water connections and sewer dump is by the office with easy in and easy out. Quiet and family friendly, it even has a small skate park and playground. We didn't use the bathhouse so can't comment in that. Wifi worked great but didn't have very good over the air channels. We didn't set up the satellite because we were leaving early the next morning but I can't imagine having any issues, trees only line the sides of the park. There are some curvy roads when coming in from the west and low clearances from the north but still easy to get to from the highway and manageable if you pay attention. Very pleased with our stay and will be back when in the area!

This city-run campground was a great value. $17.50 per night plus tax with Passport America, good for 3 nights. The spaces were nice and big. Bathhouse was clean and warm with large shower stalls. Hiking trails, tennis courts, picnic areas, and close to the town of Buena Vista. Decent campground Wi-Fi, practically no cell service with T-Mobile/MetroPCS, no TV channels with antenna.
