This was our second Georgia State Park, so we were familiar with the process, you reserve a site by size and/or hookups and you can choose an empty one, meeting those requirements, after you check in. Check in was easy and the clerk gave us an overview of which sites would be appropriate for our rig. We have a 38' fifth wheel and were hoping for a 40'+ site with 50 amps. We started by driving thru the lakefront sites, but the site we wanted was taken, so we decided to head towards the other loop that she said had more sites that would suit us. This is a large campground, with multiple loops, some inside of others. The roads throughout the campground are narrow, single lane, with washouts on both sides in many places and trees sometimes in places that make it difficult for a larger rig to get through. That said, we made it out of this loop and headed to the next one. Georgia had seen about a solid week of rain before we arrived at FDR and many of the sites had flooded areas, so that limited our choices as well. We eventually found a site that we could back into and we started hooking up. The site was not very level and our leveling system balked a little, but we got it figured out. The site we chose was a 30 amp site, with two 30 amp hookups. The first we tried didn't work, so we hooked up to the second one, which worked until out AC kicked in, when it popped it's breaker. We reset it, but it was very hot, so we contacted the park and they sent someone over, who ultimately replaced both. So, all was well. There are no sewer hookups, but there are gray water dump areas throughout the campground, although most didn't seem convenient to any particular sites. The electric and water hookups were convenient to each campsite. When we don't have sewer hookups, we use the bath house and, although they are fairly old, they were clean. There was no washer/dryer, but we were ok with that. The park is huge and there are lots of hiking trails and the drive through the center of the park was beautiful. We drove to Warm Springs and visited the Little White House one day and Callaway Gardens another. The closest town is Pine Mountain and there are a couple of restaurants, a liquor store (pretty pricey), grocery and hardware store, so if you need something there are places for that. After driving around, minus the fifth wheel, we found many other sites that we would be happy in, especially once the water level went down. We enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future.
