My wife and I stayed for 3 months while she worked in Alamosa, and overall, we were very happy with our stay, and after having stayed in a campground in Massachusetts for three months immediately following, we REALLY appreciated the price of their monthly rate ($5xx/month). The place is very clean, and that's due to the hosts' (Ron and Deb) constant work. They've been there for three years and pretty much run the place for the owner, who isn't on site. Ron can be a bit forward with help and advice, and I was even a bit insulted when he offered twice to back my rig in for me (I'm 26 years old with a 38' fifth wheel) as I've been hauling trailers since I was 16 on the thoroughbred farm I grew up in, but during our stay, I realized he sees a lot of people who either damage the sites or really struggle to back in at a 45 degree angle, and once he saw me whip back into my spot and handle things with my rig over the course of the following month, he began to see I could handle the responsibility. My wife and I just slowly figured out Ron is super friendly, always looking to help, and wants to make sure the newbies don't make the same mistakes he's seen over the years, so thanks Ron! You'll find ample space to walk your dogs, and even see quite a bit of wildlife in the park, especially deer. Oh, and they have a pretty legit dog park. All the sites are level and constantly maintained. The water system is checked yearly by a water specialist, and the water pressure is a solid 45 PSI with heated spigots during the winter. The campground WiFi is even very good (30+MBPS down, 6 UP), as well as both Verizon and AT&T. It's very, very windy in South Fork. You won't really hear it inside your camper, but if you open a door outside and you're not ready, you could lose it. It slowly got to me to the point where any breeze just pissed me off. Overall, SOLID place to stay that's close to skiing and a lot of hiking.

We had a wonderful stay at Peacock Meadows. When Covid was shutting down many RV parks, they were able to accommodate us. Pros: - The location is beautiful. Nestled in some mountains and by a river, it's quite idyllic. You're also by a major road, but noise was never an issue - The camp hosts clearly take pride in the state of the park. Bathrooms were always clean, sites were level, and I would always see them around working on making the sites more beautiful. - Security was great. There are security cameras throughout the property, so you dont need to worry about someone messing with your site. - Bathrooms are immaculate. Always clean, private, and large. - They deliver your mail to your site! Felt very spoiled - There is an awesome, large dog run for those with pups. - Cell reception for both ATT & Verizon was fantastic - While sites arent large, they are at an angle so it feels much larger than it is, and you're not looking in your neighbor's windows Cons: - The laundry/bathroom and dumpster are at opposite sides of the park. So no matter what site you are in, you're going to have to do some walking. - There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the whole campground. Frequently I would go to do laundry to find them completely full. - It can get suuuuuper windy. I wouldnt recommend having your awning down or a tend set up unless you are there and ready to take it down - You have to go quite a ways away to get basics like groceries. There is a gas station grocery store nearby, but the prices are high and selection is low. Best grocery stores are at least 30 minutes away We would definitely stay again if we are going through the area. A lot of other nearby parks dont have nearly the cell reception that Peacock Meadows does.

Been to a lot of RV parks. This one seems to have a the strictest cancellation policy. This is my bad as I just assumed it was like most parks. Not ! Have not stayed there yet but in these trying times just know you will pay big if you have to cancel. Again , should have read entire information.

This is a wonderful campground, reasonably priced, friendly owners/hosts. This is the only RV Park in the area that is open year round. Gravel roads and sites but mostly level. Bathrooms/showers immaculate with heat and plenty of hot water. Washers and dryers available. The new owners (3 years ago) completely redid an old rundown RV Park and are very proud of their accomplishments as well they should be. We stayed in the dead of winter with temps in the single digits. There were only about 6 others staying here. Some seem to be long term campers. Would definitely stay here again.

I don't usually stay at commercial campgrounds. Due to most public campgrounds still being closed in April and access to boondocking sites being questionable due to mud, snow and high water I chose to pay the man. This is a very new RV park. It is open all year. The sites have plenty of room to each side. Slideouts won't be a problem. Each site has hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are gravel with railroad ties bordering at least one side as I recall. There are no trees tall enough to provide shade. We were in site #6, located towards the front. Some noise from the highway could be heard, but not enough to be an issue. The water treatment plant isn't far away. I never got a sniff of it. Not an issue should you happen to spot it from the map and think it might stink. The sites are diagonal. That meant my neighbor wasn't looking across into my windows. The diagonal layout made for an easy parking job. There are two restrooms at the back of the community building. Both restrooms have very nice tile showers. These are the best restrooms and showers I've seen yet in a commercial campground. Laundry (coin-op) facilities are outside the bathrooms, still in the community building. We were there in the off season spending daylight hours outside town fishing, so we didn't experience any amenities or programs that the campground may have offered. The community building looked like it would provide a nice area for groups. Power and water were consistent. My power monitor (30 amp) didn't complain. I used an over-pressure device so I never bothered to look and see what the water pressure actually was. My faucets didn't have a problem. WiFi was OK. Getting to most websites there were no issues. However, when I had to use VPN the service was flaky and difficult to use. Verizon had a full 4G signal. The campground has direct access to the Rio Grande River. The shore is a bit cluttered with bushes, so fishing may not be very good. We tried to fish for a while but the river was flowing too fast. My only complaint is that they stuck me next to another occupied site when well over half the campground was empty. I notified them that I would be coming in well after dark. My neighbor was quiet, I never heard a peep out of them. But I felt bad that they had to hear me backing in and setting up so late. If you do come in after dark, look for their lighted sign located about 50 yards off the highway. While the sign is easy to see, the driveway entrance is REALLY hard to find in the dark. If I'm in the area and looking for a campsite with hookups I'll be back to Peacock Meadows.

We stayed for a month and received their monthly rate + electric (which came out to about $50 for us). This place is really fantastic! The views are stunning! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites had a decent amount of space between them and were fairly level. Full hook ups and had a variety of back in and pull through sites. Big rig friendly too. Depending on which site you’re in, you can hear some road traffic or the live band on Friday nights. We have a baby so we asked to be placed away from the music, and they were super accommodating. The bathrooms are spotless, and probably have the nicest and cleanest you’ll ever find at an RV Park. Showers are spacious! Laundry is also available and very convenient. Small grocery store, farmers market, hardware store, gas station, restaurants, and emergency health access near by! There is a playground for the kids, and a fenced dog park for your furry friends. Some short walking trails through a wooded area, as well as long a small pond and the river. The Rio Grande flows right through the park. This gold water fishing is just steps from your door, and you only have access if you’re staying at the park. Weekly community events, happy hour on-site with a live band. Community area with games, books, and cable tv. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars was because while they were maintaining the grounds, they would spray weed killer and not place signs where they sprayed. I had to keep a mental note of where to not walk with my dog and baby in a stroller. But seriously, overall, this place is amazing! Highly recommend!

The managers are super friendly and accommodating. They have a friendly dog who loves to play with the other friendly dogs in camp. Not much shade at the sites due to the smallish trees. Lots of nightly activities in the summer. Internet was fast except one night when Verizon service was non existent. River access for fishing or rafting. Perhaps the only downside, is there are only 2 unisex bathrooms with showers. There was never a line but perhaps could be when it got busy. But the bathroom/shower is very new and extremely nice.

Where We Dockin?
Easy access off the main road, our pull through site was plenty wide and we liked how the sites were staggered so that your neighbors were set back slightly (at least at our spot - 34). The sites are gravel with small trees, picnic table, fire pit and no grass. This must be a relatively new park. The trees are small and still developing. Therefore they don’t provide much privacy (but the staggered sites help) or break the wind well (and we had a lot of wind here during our stay). The fishing pond isn’t large (bring your own gear) and we hoped for a longer path along the river (it’s really just a short walk through a makeshift route) but it was nice to have the water within walking distance - the river and the pond were great for pictures and overall ambience. There is a decent sized grocery store close that we took advantage of several times. If you’re a Verizon user, you’ll be ecstatic if connectivity is important to you. We had 5 bars throughout our stay. WiFi was mostly good but did have some inconsistencies. When we needed consistent connection, we used our hotspot. Overall it was a good stay but we were ready to leave when it was time due to the wind/dirt. We would recommend this park though.

This was our first trip to the South Fork area, and we would stay here again. The staff were very friendly and very dog friendly. They paid as much or more attention to my dog than me - which was just fine with me! It was not full and they put us right next to another camper, which I did not understand. The bathrooms and community room are very, very nice. The nicest bathrooms I've seen. The campground is open year round and it is at 8000 feet, so the entire campground is essentially gravel. Our dog would have liked more grass as he's 12 and seems to have developed tender feet! The WIFI worked well during our entire stay. This campground is close to the highway but we didn't hear much traffic noise at all. Very convenient for the Silver Thread Scenic Byway and the Rio Grande river.

This is probably one of the nicest parks in the South Fork area. The sites are generously sized so you don't feel crowded by a neighbor. We usually don't use the restrooms, but our kids used the showers and I have to say they have the nicest private bathrooms/showers I have ever seen at a campground. They were immaculate! And the common area/kitchen room where they have get together's and pot-lucks is beautiful! You can really tell that the campground management puts a lot of effort into making this place beautiful. The fishing pond and Rio Grande river behind the campground was beautiful with all the trees in bright fall colors reflecting in the water. The camp hosts were so friendly and nice and it was a pleasant check-in. Verizon worked well there, and also the park WiFi was the best campground WiFi we have ever experienced. It worked better than our Verizon MiFi! I only have 2 issues with the campground which is why I won't give them 5 stars. First, they charge extra for kids. I can understand a park charging extra for kids when they have a lot of amenities for kids, but this park does not have anything extra for kids except for a tiny playground that was too small for our kids. Our community of fulltime traveling families call this a "kid tax" and we usually avoid parks that charge it. The second thing is the park was mostly empty when we were there, but they parked other campers on both sides of us a couple of times during the week. I don't understand the logic of cramming people right next to each other when there are so many empty sites available to spread people out a little more.

Well... where do I start?? If you are old and crotchety, this is the PERFECT park for you. They may be stopping their bingo, dominoes, and potlucks but if you like complaining, you are in luck and will totally get along with these "lovely" people. You can walk around being grumpy with all of the other older grumpy people complaining about everything not being up to your standards. Being here is like... how do I say this nicely?... yeah, a concentration camp with the Nazi running the place on his stupid little mule. (There are two other guys that help around the park that are awesome). I was here for the previous review left by Cheryl Driskill and that really did happen. Now here comes the awesome fun that comes along with this park while not quiet hours... The complaints we've got: My kids were being too loud when they were playing outside at the park. Can't load the ATVs and dirt bikes on the trailer with them started because they are too loud. Trucks exhaust was too loud. TV was too loud. BBQ smell was too potent for the neighbors. Fire was going too late (but we weren't talking or being loud). Cars were parked too far over or supposedly in the road but they weren't. There was plenty of room for others to get past without having to move. If you are younger, with kids, or don't like being complained on every other freaking day about the dumbest stuff in the world I would suggest one of the other RV parks in South Fork, you might have a better stay because the town is a beautiful place... just not the people at this park. We ended up leaving early because Ron sped down in his mule to yell at us for loading the trailer so we could go riding the next morning. Did not apologize for his actions, because he blew everything way out of proportion when all he had to do was talk to us instead of yelling and making my 2 year old cry. And to Dave: If it wasn't for Ron, your park is amazing. Mike and Cindy, Daylan and Terri, and even Deb were great staff choices. They actually made you feel welcome and like part of the community whereas Ron made you feel as though you were less than nothing by his actions and the way he treats people.
