This camping site boasts numerous advantages. The employees are warm and welcoming. The locations are appealing. The site and amenities are spotless, complete with a swimming pool. It also features a lake with a sandy shore and a walking path. In close proximity, you'll find a grocery store as well as a top-notch Cuban butcher shop - their beef cuts are simply superb! The only downside: the restrooms are inaccessible from 10 in the evening until 7 in the morning. If you require access to facilities during late hours, this camping site may not be the best fit for you.

This appealing park, nestled between Miami, the Keys, and the Everglades, is an ideal vacation spot. The cost is reasonable and the service is commendable. It's impeccably clean, and like much of Florida, it's quite flat. The layout is pleasing, and the restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are all well-maintained. The only drawback is that internet access is limited to the vicinity of the office or the nearby recreational room. I had to utilize my phone's hotspot feature to share this. The campground is currently undergoing enhancements to half of its area, which I believe will be as good as the rest. In fact, I've upgraded my rating to five stars because I believe it offers excellent value for money. I suspect I was able to secure a spot because the seasonal visitors typically depart in mid-April. Usually, there are three 5G Verizon bars available.

Booked a spot while returning from KeyWest. The park is stunning, with very amicable and knowledgeable employees regarding the campsite and booking process! Considering a month-long stay for our next trip!

We stayed here to visit Biscayne national park. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the campground is in the middle of large urban area. Spaces has asphalt pads and concrete area for picnic tables. Even though close together there are trees all around. Bathrooms are renovated with beautiful tile. Laundry facilities all spaces throughout. Loved having nearby walking/biking paths through the rest of the park. Appreciated the pool and Rec area. There are even bikes that are available to bike around the campground for use. The only draw back is limited hours for restrooms (close at 6 pm). But we would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed this park a great deal. Having a full hook-up such a short distance from Miami for less than $30/night really makes the place stand out. I like set-up for RV camping--several loops with easy back-in--and had convenient services for each loop. It also has a swimming pool just for the campground, monitored by lifeguards, something I haven't seen for a long time. The pool did close on Mondays and Tuesdays during our stay, but I don't know if that always happens. Many seasonal campers around us, but also had some shorter term travelers. We had to get on a wait list to get a spot, but that happens a lot in Florida in winter. The campground sits adjacent to the rest of the park which has very nice bike/hike trails and many picnic shelters. It has a "beach", though I'd hesitate to call it that. More of a stretch of sand along a small lake. It also has a waterpark, though that looks shut down for Covid or seasonal or something. Also very close to Zoo Miami and a short drive from Biscayne Bay National Park--both wonderful places!

I called to make a reservation, and was told they do not accept camper-vans. I explained we have a full bathroom, water tanks, and only need electric to power our AC. She said they do not allow campervans at all. I’ve never heard this before, and ended up scheduling our night elsewhere.

We stayed at Larry and Penny Thompson park for nearly two weeks in March 2021. We used our hotspot for work and got a good signal through Verizon. The bathrooms, pool, beach, and pavilions were closed due to Covid, but they look very nice to use when they open up. There were a lot of snowbirds, friendly folks. On site laundry and plenty of places to walk and jog. Lots of dogs and most people picked up after them. Laundry facilities were open. This park is very convenient to major roads and the turnpike. Easy off and on in our motorhome. Sites are kind of close together, but not on top of each other. Our site was a pull through, fairly level, FHU. There is construction going on to revamp the park, so it may be difficult to obtain a site as they have sections of the campground closed off. This campground does accept mail and packages. We camped in a 40’ motorhome and had plenty of room for our truck as well.

This would have been a somewhat enjoyable stay with a lake, playground, and walking path - EXCEPT that one of our bikes got stolen from right in front of our fifth wheel while we were inside. Whoever stole our bike threw another clearly stolen bike (cut lock still attached to it) on our site and knocked over our kid’s bike. This area is not the safest and there is currently a lot of construction going on in the campground. ALSO, a groundskeeper yelled at me and my kids and told us we couldn’t play by the lake, then another family was playing by the lake and they didn’t say a word to them.

This relatively inexpensive state park (paid $37/night) is a great place for those who want to visit the Miami area. It’s conveniently located between Miami and the Upper Keys. A big plus for us was that it offers full hookups and spacious and relatively leveled spots. Due to COVID restrictions, they only accept self-contained RVs because bathrooms and showers facilities were close. If you like nature, they have a lake with a renovated beach area, trails for walking/running (all flat) and bike paths. The RV park area is under renovation. Apparently, they are making electric and sewer improvements, removing tree roots, and repaving the roads and spots. Highly recommended!

The worst customer service I have ever received/ experienced. I called ahead of time to see if there was any availability, which they said there was plenty for the amount of days I wanted. Once we got there the two girls in the front office very rudely told me I needed a mask. I don’t wear masks because of a medical condition and I told them I didn’t have one but I was quickly willing to wear one if they had it. They said no they didn’t have any. Well they refused me any service. My Husband then goes in and again very rudely was told he needed a mask. When he kept asking them questions about the campsite they bring out a big black guy to try and kick him out. My husband said they couldn’t do that and the guy agreed and said “you’re right no we can’t but we are refusing service.” So my husband stays in there a little while longer asking them questions and they said they were going to call the cops!! Geez, so my husband said ok that’s fine call the cops. They may or may not have called because they were hesitantly telling someone on the phone that someone refuses to leave. We’re very easy going. This behavior was totally uncalled for. They had plexi glass up, they were wearing masks (if that was their actual concern), the state does not have a mask mandate and this is how they treat people coming into their state and their place of business. No thank you!!
