Burrowye Reserve Campground

3709, Burrowye
Victoria, Australien

A large river-side reserve, with a grassed open paddock by the road and tiered river flats by the river where white trunked Manna Gums, willow and wattle provide some shade to grassed sites.
Features long pebbly river beaches and a pleasant rural outlook. The lower river flats are not visible from the little used road 300m away. May be crowded over holiday periods. Cattle and/or seep may be grazed to keep the grass down. Caution: Very fast flowing river suitable ONLY for strong swimmers. Minors should not be allowed to swim and must be supervised at all times. Recent updates * Lovely spot, with great fishing (permit required) * Take care in rainy times as area can flood * Don't miss the Hume Weir dam and Bethanga Bellbridge * Fires permitted when no restrictions, bring your own firewood. * Cattle are present, but don't cause a major concern. * If fishing, you need a NSW fishing licence. See http://www.depi.vic.gov.au/fishing-and-hunting/fishing-guides/inland-angling-guide/special-articles/murray-river-nsw for more information

No cattle but sheep when I was there (Jan 2015).I'd suggest dropping number of sites to 20 which is more realistic in the "divide by 2 free camping personal space" rule.If fishing, you need a NSW fishing licence. Here is the definitive site on that matter ...http://www.depi.vic.gov.au/...Essential add (as a CAUTION):Supervised swimming of minors due to fast flowing river.

Love this place, only a short drive from my in-laws place. Beautiful place to camp even in winter when it's freezing cold but the fog that's around the place and the sun shinning through it is magical. Have got some beautiful pic's over the years from there. There are no bbq's or picnic tables there. Yes cattle roam around as it grazing land but they don't come too near you and aren't anything to be worried about. Depends on what time of year as to if it's fire season or not when it come's to having a fire going. In winter it's no problem to have a contained fire going but you need to supply your own fire-wood. Do not go there in the rain season as it does flood being part of the Murray river when it rains there. If you have time while driving out there go via the hume weir dam and Bethanga/Bellbridge and it's some beautiful country side driving around the weir. Yes the water is cold cold cold in winter but it's great fishing but you do need a fishing permit though
