AfriCamps at Gowan Valley offers Balgowan accommodation in boutique tents in the area of Balgowan on the Gowan Valley Guest Farm. An enchanting farm with rolling green hills and fields, Nguni cattle and Golden Kiwi are farmed here. The farm has beautiful gardens dotted with roses.
AfriCamps at Gowan Valley has five self catering tents which each comfortably sleeps five guests. These tents are all about boutique camping (or glamping). Each tent has two bedrooms, one with an extra length Queen-size bed and the other contains an extra length Queen-size bed with a single extra length bunk above it. A baby cot and high chair are also available. The bathroom has a toilet, basin and a good sized shower.
The open plan living area has a well equipped kitchen containing a fridge, hob, kettle and all the utensils required for self catering. A cosy, woodburning (closed combustion) fireplace keeps the chill at bay and air-conditioning keeps the tent cool on the hot summer days.
There is a large comfortable couch, coffee table and a large dining table and chairs. The floors are wooden throughout the tent.
Each tent has an outside deck with table and chairs and beautiful views. Braai facilities are provided and a wood fired hot tub / splash pool.

The crystal clear Mpofana river flows strongly through the farm. There is a hollowed out section in the river, great for a dip on a hot summer day. Catch and release fishing is enjoyed on the river. There are yellowtail and trout in the river.
Nearby attractions include Howick Falls, Midmar Dam, Karkloof Falls, Highmoor Nature Reserve, the Maloti Drakensberg Park, The Nelson Mandela Capture Site and well-loved food and craft spots, Notties Junction and Piggly Wiggly.
