This is our third time in the Golf View section at Travelers Rest. Each time we have been located in increasingly steeper sites. In our current site (40-09) the front stabilizers are extended 6" while the rear stabilizers are extended 23" (3.6 degree slope). Other rows are much flatter. In general the facility is well maintained with good WiFi and cable TV. The community offers dozens of social and recreational activities and groups. The people are genuine, friendly, and helpful. The sites are close to each other but not tight. There is no shade in this section. The water pressure is low. 36 psi static and 24 psi while washing dishes as measured at the hookup. The pole mounted street lights shine through our skylight and obscure the stars. The site is grass with an adjacent concrete pad. A bench that converts to half a picnic table is bolted to the pad.

The RV park was easy to find off I75 with signs guiding you at each turn. Check in was quick and easy. You are supplied with a lot of information and rule sheets. We were escorted to Golf View site 40-07, which translates to row 40 site 7 with FHUs for our 11 nights stay. The full timers here call Golf View the Hill as it is the highest point of this basically flat area. Our bill showed we received a weekly rate of $270 and then 4 nightly rates of $38.57. When you do the math, there’s no discount for the weekly rate? The sites are close together so we had to maneuver several times to get our 39’ 5th wheel in and lined up straight on the small cement patio with an interesting one bench picnic table. Once disconnected, we were able to park our truck on the grass behind our rig. Interesting that you cannot put any mats on the grass but you can park your vehicle anywhere you like on the grass. The utilities, to include cable, are centered on the site. Water pressure was good. We got 4 bars Verizon. Their WiFi was really good and there was not an additional charge. We received a lot of OTA channels and their cable was clear with a lot of channels as well. There are only trees on the far edge of the Golf View area so there is a clear shot for satellites from most sites. The other short term area, Oak View, has fewer sites and is located on the main road by the maintenance area. There is no patio on these sites. The people there seemed to be enjoying themselves but those sites are close together as well. There are a lot of rules here but no one seems to outwardly police. As this park is mainly a 55+ park, it was quiet and people were behaved. We did see a couple of families but they were quiet too. Concerning rules again, other than finding a rule about no retracting leashes in the dog club sheet, which no one policed, dog walking areas are limited. There is an okay sized dog park with special times for small dogs in the morning and afternoon. This place is its own community with a post office and volunteer fire department. The resort is mainly made up of small homes, seasonal and permanent RV sites. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer and/or join activities such as golf, pickle ball, tennis, quilting, radio controlled sailboats & trucks, fishing, church, line dancing, yoga, and much more. We had tried to get reservations at a couple of other campgrounds closer to Tampa but they were full. We were able to get reservations here with only a few months notice. The residents and seasonal folks were very nice, aways saying hello and even giving our dogs treats. We are more state park and COE RVers so this place was nice but not our “cup of tea” as they say.

I’m sure this is a great place to stay if you enjoy golf, and activities for seniors, and there’s nothing wrong with that. We were a little overwhelmed by the two pages of regulations concerning dogs, and where you can and can’t walk them. We were in the ‘overflow’ area and the sites were very narrow. In walking around it looks like most of the perm sites are narrow as well.
