Camping is still permitted in this region, but the provision for electrical connection has been discontinued. This implies that you'll be camping without amenities or 'roughing it'. A water tap is available within the park for refilling your water containers.

I always enjoyed overnighting at this small park in Silverton, but a friend stopped by there today to find the power locked and a sign directing people to Silver Wind RV park ($25/nt). What a shame. I always used the restaurant or tire place across the street when I stopped there, and even bought propane locally, now no local businesses will benefit.

Hookups still locked so it’s essentially a gravel lot to park in. Not terrible. There is a water spigot in the park we used. By the main road so you may hear some trucks, but nothing too crazy.

We stayed here 3 days. I called the town and was told the electric boxes are still locked due to Covid, but it's fine to camp for 3 days (we have solar). We parked along the back. There are six dogs behind a fence, but they are surprisingly quiet and very friendly. The highway was pretty close, but almost no traffic at night. There's a water spigot, which was working in mid-April. Other options for camping closer to Quitaque would be the rail-trail parking lot ($5pp state park fee). The SP actually has two overflow camping areas, so I'd say they'd let you camp there except on a busy weekend. The one near the lake is nicer than the area by the horse camp. Just go to the desk and ask. Five bars LTE for T-Mobile and 4 for Verizon. No TV signal. The cafe across the street had inconsistent hours and we weren't impressed.
