We lodged here at the beginning of June 2023. The booking website claims that every site overlooks the river, which isn't entirely accurate... the eastern and central loops do for the most part. However, the western loop doesn't. Site 57 was spacious, flat, and featured a wonderful patio space and a pleasant river view! The campground has a somewhat "open air" vibe, with towering pine trees and little to no foliage separating the sites. The site immediately adjacent to the driver's side of our trailer was somewhat cramped, but they departed and we were left with no nearby neighbors! There were plenty of vacant sites. The volunteers were friendly and check-in was a breeze. The bathhouses were also commendable, with each individual "room" equipped with a toilet, sink, and shower - very convenient! It's a great location for exploring Shiloh National Military Park or simply relaxing and observing the river's activities.

I visited this place with a 35-foot 5th wheel and a long-bed pickup, settling at site #10, an E/W, BI site, priced at $29 per night, including a senior discount (which I believe you have to request at check-in). However, please be aware that my GPS led me astray. The campsite is located off Hardin Road, but my GPS directed me to the Ranger Station. The roads and site are asphalt but are in a state of decay (cracked, crumbling, and potholes). The site was extremely uneven, both laterally and longitudinally. I had to place my wheels off the asphalt on the elevated side to have enough boards to level it. The utilities were inconveniently located on the opposite side of the site (I particularly enjoyed crawling under the rig to connect my power cord). The picnic table and fire pit were situated towards the back and driver's side. It was straightforward to reverse into as it was directly off a road curve. The campsite is abundant with trees providing shade. The washroom facilities are somewhat distant from this loop but were clean and had individual shower rooms. Regarding connectivity, I had 2 bars of LTE with Verizon, no wifi, and no OTA channels (although I noticed others had reception). Site 33 was my preferred choice and was more level than most (except for the handicap-accessible spots). Sites 1, 3, and 4 were my next favourites. The two PT sites had a significant incline – requiring a 4-6” adjustment. Recycling bins were available. Laundry facilities are located at the marina (only 1 washer/dryer). If I had to visit this area again, I would likely choose a different campsite due to the uneven sites and poor road conditions.

The camping area at Pickwick Dam is quite pleasant, characterized by lofty trees and tranquility. It's impressively pristine and properly looked after. The staff at the camp is diligent in their duties. However, the camping spots were slightly congested than our preference, but still tolerable. Our primary issue was the unpleasant smell from the paper factory on the opposite side of the river, especially when the wind carried it towards us. The Verizon mobile network signal was weak, fluctuating between 1-2 bars, and lacked consistency.

Between November 22nd and 28th, 2022, I stayed for six days at a campsite that usually costs $24 on weekdays and $25 on Fridays and Saturdays. We received a 25% senior discount, and after adding tax and a $5 reservation fee, the total cost came to $130.68. This price included full hookups. The campsite was constructed in the 1970s, at a time when campers were generally smaller. The park ranger informed me that the site is due for a renovation, which should take place in about two years. The main problem is that the grounds are not even. Some spots are more uneven than others, with the worst ones requiring a 30-foot camper's hitch to be elevated by five or six feet to achieve a level position. According to the ranger, site #33 is the most level. Many of the sites are manageable, and there are YouTube videos detailing which ones are better or worse. The two spots designated for disabled campers are quite nice and seem to be very level. The restrooms are modern and appear to be newly renovated. There's one trail in the campsite. Upon arrival, there was no ranger or camp host present. I simply went to the site I had reserved. When I was looking for a park to stay at, David Crocket State Park was fully booked, but this one had many available spots. I would consider staying here again. There's a laundry room, but its location at the marina office is not immediately obvious. We had difficulty finding someone who could direct us to it.

We drove through with our motor home. Most of the sites are Very sloped. In order to get level our tires would have been way off the ground. The pavement in several sites has either sunk or raised and some of it is broken up. There are a few sites that are mostly level and the ADA site is great. We drove on to the Pickwick Dam Campground where we found beautiful level sites

Recently rebuilt. Gravel sites, level, roomy. I was in a pull through that had enough parking room for my trailer, tow vehicle, room left for a boat and another vehicle if I had them. Private shower/bath rooms. Barge/tug traffic was light, not a distraction. Got pretty full during the weekend- I was there Sept 30-Oct 4, 2022. I got a sack full of pinecones to take home. Park was recently mowed, beautiful location. The first sections (2-3?) were shaded, lots of trees. The last section from the gate had fewer trees and lots of sun. Not sure about amount of phone reception- my ATT worked fine for phone calls and texts. I don't use internet on my phone.

Fairly full when we were there. Nice site with large open lawn area to the rear. Nice level gravel site, easy access. Some odor from the pulp factory depending on wind direction. Interesting that dam has active lock. Minimum of 2 night stays.

This campground was honestly one of the hardest to leave. The river flowing nearby and the people were just amazing that were camp hosting. The whole trip was amazing! The bath houses I can’t speak enough good about them. They were hot and the water was hot so unlimited shower time and they were individual rooms in the building. Honestly wonderful experience.
