I spent approximately five nights at a campsite without any hookups. The bathrooms are slightly far from the camping grounds, but they are well-maintained and warm. Additionally, there's a place for washing dishes with warm water which I found useful. The campsite offers delivery services for items such as firewood from their small shop to your camping spot. What I enjoyed most was its proximity to national forest trails, making it perfect for unlimited hiking or cycling in the black hills, right next to the camp. Lynn's Dakotamart isn't too far for your grocery needs. The campsite is conveniently located near all the attractions in the Custer region and about a two-hour drive to the badlands. An excellent location!

A charming, small-scale camping site is located a short distance from Custer's city center. The employees are extremely welcoming and the check-in process is straightforward. The camping spots and restrooms are kept in excellent condition and are spotlessly clean. We were allocated a spot at the very end of the site which was peaceful and offered stunning scenery. There are trails directly accessible from the camping ground that you can explore for several hours if you wish. The wifi is passable. I gave it a 4 for noise, but that's not really the fault of the site. We just happened to have noisy neighbors.

What a treasure! We lodged at this place for three nights as we toured Custer and Custer State Park. I wish our stay could have been extended. The campground is stunning, filled with many "Giant Pines". I had concerns about navigating our vehicle through the trees to our spot, but our 45' Fifth-Wheel managed it perfectly fine. Our spot was spacious enough for us too. The nights were tranquil, with only a slight hint of road noise during the day. Not a major issue at all! The proprietors and staff genuinely value this campground and are committed to ensuring visitors have a fantastic time. We will certainly return to this place the next time we visit Custer!

Very friendly, fun and helpful staff. The campground is on a hill but most of the sites are level. Very tall pine trees shelter most of the campsites. The air feels fresh and clean. The back of the campground abuts the Black Hills National Forest and the views are fantastic. Campsites in the center of the campground are tighter than along the edges and the tent sites are down the hill and feel very secluded. Showers are immaculate and set up wonderfully so that your clothes don't get wet and you can change comfortably. Bathrooms are also very clean. There's a sink set-up to wash your dishes at the bathhouse. The campground office has a great local map and will find out what you're interested in, how long you're staying and then give you advice on where to go. There's so much to do, you could spend a week here. Custer is a very cute town with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Make sure to take the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park and drive Needles Highway. If your vehicle is too big to pass through the tunnels carved out of the rock, you can rent UTVs in town. Badlands Ntl Park, Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave Ntl Park, Air and Space Museum and the Crazy Horse Memorial are all within reach of Big Pine Campground.

We stayed here for two nights, my wife and I love this campground because of tall pine trees and the feeling of being in the woods. It’s like real camping!! Very close to most of the point of interest in Black Hills. They have full hookups or elec/water sites Strong WiFi. .

We really enjoyed our stay at Big Pine Campground in September 2021. We chose site 9 because it was close to the laundry room. The sites are closer together at the front, but the back loops had more space between sites. Everything was very clean and well-maintained and the staff is super nice and will deliver ice and firewood to your site. Beautiful setting among the pines. This campground is 15 minutes to everything - we rented a car in Hill City and went to Custer SP, Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. So much to see in this area!

Normally, we really prefer to stay in State and National Park Campgrounds. However, in this area of the country, it can be tough obtaining the right campsite in Custer State Park. They book up REALLY fast, can be difficult to reach, and most likely will not have the hook ups that you want or need. Therefore, we looked at other options and found this privately owned campground. For us, it was convenient in terms of driving to the sights which we planned to visit (except the Badlands which was an all day affair). This campground keeps very busy during the Summer, however, you do not feel any hustle and bustle of neighbors or any coming and going. We stayed 5 nights; 2 nights in one site and 3 nights in another one. We did not have sewer hook ups, so we dumped (dump station by the main office) when we moved from the first site to the second site. The friendly owners have owned this campground for three years and love what they are doing. Is the campground perfect? No, however, it is NOT anything like an "RV Park" which we avoid like the plague, and therefore we were glad to be here. Our sites were a bit challenging to get level, but we managed. Our Verizon Cell Service was good.

We loved our 13 day stay at Big Pine Campground. It is just on the edge of town. Perfect location to bike on the Michaelson Bike Trail, visit Custer State Park, and it is near the quaint downtown area with plenty of eateries. The bathhouse was clean and water hot. We were on top of the hill with water/electric only for part of our time. Beautiful forest sites. The last half of our visit we were in a full hookup pull through at the bottom of the hill near the office/store. Both sites were great. Owners are hands on and always around to address any issues. We will definitely come back and stay again. $42 per night. Good cell signal and park wifi was actually quite good.
