Shamwari's Explorer Camp is ideal for guests looking for an adventurous and authentic option offering the ambience of the tented bush camp of old safari lore. The camp is located on a plateau set amongst the only basalt and granite extrusions on Shamwari. A truly magical setting awaits. During South Africa’s summer season, Shamwari Game Reserve expands its offerings even further by opening the Explorer Camp. This once-in-a-lifetime experience takes guests on a guided walking safari of the surrounding land, allowing you to get up close and personal with nature. The wilderness bush camp itinerary comprises a minimum 2-night trail, Operational Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, Saturday with an optional 3rd night (Sunday) on request. The camp operates from October to April. Each tent is luxuriously furnished for comfort in the wilderness. Each tent is luxuriously furnished for comfort in the wilderness. The camp site is unfenced and the tents are placed in fairly close proximity without encroaching on the privacy of other tents. Wild animals move through the camp easily and safety precautions have been followed when setting up the camp, although this does not stop the visiting animals. The three tents each sleep two guests and have fold out aluminium stretchers with duvets and pillows. The tents have a cupboard and an LED light for night time use. There is an outside shower, a basin and a hammock alongside the rocks. Tea and coffee facilities are provided.
