We lodged at this location for a single night during our brief visit to Cape Ann. Although we didn't spend much time at the campground, I can attest that the cost aligns with the provided services of a simple, no-frills camping experience, which is precisely what I desire. The spaces at the top are pleasantly surrounded by trees and are also flat. Each spot comes equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit. My solitary grievance is the considerable distance to the water connection...it was genuinely quite remote. We would have needed to purchase a hose to utilize it. Since our stay was brief, we decided to "dry camp". I would consider returning, either with an extended hose or a clearer understanding of the proximity of the water connections to the camping spot.

Grateful for the effective and unambiguous instructions on where to halt and set up camp. Large vehicles must not ascend the hill, instead, they should be parked at the base. The location of the waste disposal area is also indicated. The campgrounds are nearly flat, a feature that is much appreciated. All outdoor activities must be conducted while fully dressed to avoid attracting the unsettling "security" guard who would emerge from his trailer whenever I took my dog for a walk. I would carry the dog waste bag like a triumphant banner to deter curious neighbors. Chigger bites are the mementos of this place, along with a stunning view of the tidal estuary that I couldn't get away from. The last mile to the campground is a winding 20mph road. The location is conveniently close to Gloucester, but it's advisable to inquire thoroughly.

Cape Ann Campsite offers superb connectivity to Gloucester and Rockport. Upon arrival, it's crucial to consult with the office to ascertain which camping areas are suitable for your vehicle when booking. We had booked a spot that was reportedly suitable for a 22' travel trailer, but the actual site proved to be extremely challenging to back into. Fortunately, the receptionist recommended a swap to another spot with more convenient access upon our arrival. The campsite is aesthetically pleasing, featuring forested areas and stunning views near the entrance. However, navigating through the narrow roads and tight turns to reach your allocated spot can be demanding. Our spot had no issues with water and electricity. There's a waste disposal station, although its accessibility can be tricky if the adjacent campsite is occupied. The facilities are clean and sufficient, although they could benefit from some upkeep. It's somewhat unseemly to charge 25¢ for shower usage, especially considering the camping fees, and it can be inconvenient to find change in the current post-covid era when the use of coins has declined. The Verizon cell signal was inconsistent and patchy. We had 3 bars of 5G near the entrance, but this fluctuated as we traversed the campground towards our spot. Our spot seemed to be in a signal dead zone, fluctuating between 1 and 2 LTE bars, and occasionally displaying one bar of 5G.

The park was easy to find. It is located about five miles from down town Gloucester. There is pavement all the way. Signage is adequate. Arriving at the park was challenging. The office is a way inside the campground but motor homes with a towed must disconnect right at the entrance which blocks in and out traffic. Check in was efficient, informative and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are paved but very very rough. The road up the hill is narrow and winding and the signage for the loops is not that great but doable without too much difficulty. Our site, 167E, was a pull through that was just long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp and water only) were to the left side but the water faucet was a long way from the site. We carry extra hoses so not a big deal to us. Distancing is a bit close for a rural park. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was pretty lumpy and sloped to the right (down hill) but we were able to position our rig so that we were fairly level. Overall the park was not bad. It was quiet and relaxing. The park included wifi was surprisingly strong even though the park is quite heavily forested. There is no cable TV but we were able to find a few OTA channels. Satellite might be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them dated but clean. There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay base to use while visiting the nearby attractions. We paid $52.00 per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again.

Dates: June 9 - 16. This campground was interesting. Overall we really enjoyed it but it was a bit odd. It is built up into a big hill so maneuvering is very very difficult (especially in a big rig). They did not have dog park (despite having a few places to put it). Our site did not have sewer hookups but we were close to the dump station. They also did not have laundry facilities. I would give them one less star but we did really just have a very enjoyable stay other things notwithstanding. Verizon signal was great at our spot but as soon as you go up the hill it did get worse.
