I stopped in here just to scout out the area and stretch my legs. I did not stay the night. From Highway 287 the sign declares this to be a fishing access site but no mention of camping. As you turn off at highway 287 and cross over the train tracks there is a large, new looking NO CAMPING sign attached to the fence. There is another NO CAMPING sign a little further down where a rough dirt trail leads to a maze of roads. I think that they don't allow camping in this area because it appears to be the only fisherman/boat trailer parking available. Continue straight ahead on the gravel road and you will come to a cattle guard and an information sign -THIS is the start of the campground. Off season there are no fees charged, in the summer it is $18 a night without a MT fishing license or $12 with. There didn't appear to be any place for trash dumpsters so I'm assuming trash is pack in/pack out. No fresh water on site either. The sites are all dirt and looked pretty unlevel. Decent tables and fire rings at each site. The one pit toilet was surprisingly clean and well-stocked. The sites are numbered in a clockwise fashion but are best approached CCW. 1 and 2 are single wide back-ins, maybe a 20' trailer at most. Site 3 is a bit weird - there's a long Y-shaped parking area with one of the paths ending directly behind the site 2 table and fire ring. Site 4 is a concrete ADA accessible site sandwiched between the boat ramp and pit toilet. Sites 5 and 6 are at the center of the loop and are both shorter double wide back-ins. Sites 7 and 8 are big pull-through sites and 9 is a tiny site at the end of the loop, maybe a small camper van or tent camper would fit in here. Site 10 is all by itself down a separate road - this would be the rightmost branch of the road as you first drive into the campground. It is a double-wide back-in site. Beyond site 10 the road dead-ends at the river. Do not drive towards site 10 unless you are certain it is vacant as there is nowhere else to go down this road! I was surprised to find the camp deserted on such a sunny weekend but then fishing season isn't in full swing. I would expect a large crowd in the summer with plenty of traffic coming through to pick up and drop off boats during the day. I could hear a bit of traffic noise from the highway but then its only 1/4 mile away. My bigger concern with noise would be the train tracks that parallel the highway. I know this line gets used a lot and would expect to hear frequent blasts of train horns at all hours. Overall a nice camp, little rough around the edges, but would make do if you are in the area and want easy river access for fishing and boating or just a quick one-night stop on your way through to more exciting destinations.
