This is an exceptional camping site situated on a mountain with a breathtaking view of Phoenix. The city manages the campground, providing city water and immaculately clean bathrooms that meet city standards, distributed throughout the expansive park. The Family Campground, located near the peak, offers a stunning view of the city lights and full amenities. The campsites vary, with some offering pull-through access and others requiring back-in. Accommodations range from tents to large rigs. There's also an additional campground and plenty of roadside camping options available, all of which have access to nearby bathrooms, but without hookups. The park is home to numerous towering stove-type cacti and a hiking trail. The staff, including the gate attendants, camp host, and park ranger, were all friendly. This is the most distinctive camping experience we've had, and I can't recommend it enough.

We spent 11 consecutive nights at the family-oriented camping site. The neighboring communal campsite was absurd! They constantly blasted music at high volumes on their sound system, from dawn to well past midnight. There were also loud voices and laughter till the early hours of the morning, leaving no room for tranquility or the enjoyment of the natural surroundings. On a brighter note, the campsite boasted stunning hiking paths, well-maintained washrooms, and comforting hot showers. The calls of coyotes echoed throughout the night, surprisingly close to our location. Plus, the breathtaking sunrises were a sight to behold!

My trip from Kentucky to California has been filled with various accommodations, but none compare to this particular locale. The hiking paths are exceptional. The scenery is breathtaking. The spots at the Willow camping area are fantastic. The bathing facilities and lavatories are top-notch. The environment is serene and stunningly beautiful.

The process of checking in at the gate kiosk was straightforward. There were no additional costs for bringing a car, whether towed or driven, along with your recreational vehicle. The family camping area is a three-mile drive from the gate. The water supply and 50 amp electric connections functioned properly. The campsites are well distributed, with approximately 50 feet space between each. The environment is peaceful, with no noise during the day or night. Campsite D23 offers a stunning mountain view. There is a waste disposal station located on the entrance road. The area boasts numerous excellent hiking trails, including a 10-mile loop that can be accessed from the campground. The campground and its surroundings are adorned with many magnificent, towering saguaros, reaching 20 feet in height. AT&T cell service is decent, with 3-4 bars of 5G. With a booster, streaming was seamless. There are over 100 HDTV channels available, the majority of which had a clear picture.

We stayed in both the developed Family campground and the undeveloped Willow campground. Both of the sites we stayed at were spacious and clean. The Family campground has electricity and water at each site. However, only one shower per gender. The shower facilities at the Willow campground was surprisingly better than the Family campground. The views from both sites were stunning. And so many places to hike at and near the campsites. If we’re in the area again, we would definitely stay here. FYI, it is difficult to get reservations due to it’s popularity.

We really enjoyed this park. Our site was a little short for our rig, but other than that, it was great. Park had lots of cacti, especially saguaro, lots of hiking and biking trails, and lots of wildlife. We would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, especially hiking and biking.

Just wow. You know a campsite is good, when you're sad to be leaving it behind! We were in site 19 which is just across from the Ironwood trail. A great little hike we enjoyed daily. The sites are spread apart which made for a peaceful and quiet campground, especially during the week. Each site had a BBQ and firepit, which we enjoyed while looking at the twinkling lights of downtown Phoenix in the distance. There was a park ranger or camp host that patrolled quite frequently, which made us feel safe. Electric and water hookups at the site made us feel spoiled our first week of full-time life, and an easy dump station at the entrance/exit. Great reception with Verizon, even in the middle of a thunderstorm. About 45 minutes from Phoenix, which made for a nice getaway to enjoy date nights in the city. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had to find a spot for the night on our travels, found this place for the night on our way home from Sedona to Orange County. I didn’t know it was gated, we made it in time at 7:50pm, gates close at 8:00pm. A nice couple took our reservation without giving us a hard time because we were cutting it kind of close! The road to our campsite was paved, made it easy to find our site in the dark. The restrooms had clean shower facility. We would stay here again!

Great clean showers and restrooms. Large sites with tent pads, shade over picnic table, and fire ring. Some with hammock posts.

Covid screwed up our original plans for Christmas, so my wife and I booked a spot last-minute for Christmas night. At White Tank Mountains Regional Park, there are two main campgrounds to choose from: 1) Family campground (modern, with hookups) 2) Willow Campground (primitive site for tents and small self-contained campers. This review applies only to the Family campground. We liked how spacious and flat all the campsites were. We were delighted to see our site included both electrical and water since we were expecting only electricity. Each site provides enough space for the biggest of rigs and room (in most cases) for another vehicle. Included with your camping pad are a nice, big concrete picnic table and partially sunken campfire ring. The gravel pad encasing the table and fire was big enough for us to set up the cornhole game. If you're a hiker or mountain biker, I'd definitely recommend staying a minimum of two nights here. Since check-in is 1 p.m. and check-out is noon, one night is hardly enough to experience the best of this park. We didn't mountain bike, but I can vouch for the excellent hiking experiences you'll get on both Waterfall Trail and Ford Canyon Trail. If you have time for only one hike, Waterfall Trail would be my top recommendation. It's considerably shorter and easier to navigate, with more to see: namely petroglyphs and a seasonal waterfall. Here's a link to an interactive trail map: https://maricopa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html Additional notes: - $32 nightly campsite fee includes gate entrance - All the volunteers and park staff we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful - Gates to the park close at 8 p.m. but upon check-in you'll receive a gate code and instructions on how to enter after the gates close to the public - There's a very clean and well-maintained, modern restroom in the center of the campground that's very accessible from all campsites. Bonus: there's a shower stall here, too. - From the west end of the campground, you can catch Ironwood Trail to connect with other trails in the park - The dump station is located near the campground entry/exit point. It's well-maintained and very clean. - Although there are no trash bins located around the campground, there's a trash dumpster adjacent to the dump station
