Waitpinga Campground

5211, Waitpinga
South Australia, Australia

In coastal mallee scrub, a short stroll from the beach, suitable for tents and camper trailers.
Waitpinga Beach There is a walking track Waitpinga Beach (about 600m) or you can drive / walk down Dennis Road about 1.3km to the carpark at the end of the road. Waitpinga Beach is a popular surf spot and also has been known to offer up the odd salmon trout or sea mullet if you bring your beach rod. Try using whole pilchards or lures at dawn or dusk. High tide is best. Walking The 11.5km (one way) Heysen Trail begins from here, which follows the Cliffs and coast to kings Beach. It is considered a moderate difficulty walk with absolutely stunning views of the coast. The track is easily followed and even has boardwalk sections in the rougher parts. See www.walkingsa.org.au for more details and other walks in the area. Campsites Campsites are dirt / grass and mostly level. Plenty of room for camper trailers and tents are no problems. There are some picnic tables scattered around the campground, as well as one under cover area with tables and toilets. Fires or solid fuel stoves are not permitted at this campsite.
