The bathing facilities and toilets are excellent, with pleasant lawns interspersed among the locations.

The gravel sites are of high quality and come with complete hookups. There's a Dollar General store nearby which adds to the convenience. The sites are separated by a well-maintained grassy area. There's also a sizable bath house and restrooms available. The cost is $61 after applying the Good Sam discount.

This motorhome campground is excellent for those on a journey or for long-term residents. The plots are of superior standard and it's conveniently located near an urban area and Mount Rushmore. The proprietors are extremely cordial and it's evident they take pride in their establishment, as everything is in superb condition and undergoing growth.

As everyone else has said, great location to visit many of the attractions the Black Hills has to offer. The spots are good size (width wise). The staff is very friendly. And what no one has mentioned the restaurant near the campground has the best Prime Rib I have ever had at a very reasonable price. Only negative is a tiny bit of road noise from Hwy 79 (but not enough to keep me from staying here again).

Hermosa, SD – Southern Hills RV Park. Located in the country south of Rapid City. This is a good campground to use as a base to explore the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, and Custer State Park etc. but we were just there to visit friends in Rapid City since we have visited this area and all the attractions many times before. The campground was quiet and our level FHU site was long enough for our 38’ fifth-wheel and for our dually truck. Sites and interior roads are gravel and looked level. Most have a concrete patio; we did not since we were put in site 32 in a new section of the park. We had plenty of room. There is no WiFi or cable. Both ATT and Verizon worked well as did our portable Dish. We had both a picnic table and a fire ring. We used our Passport America discount which was good for the two nights were there visiting friends. The park also offers Good Sam and FMCA discounts. We would return.

This park is small and right off Hwy 79, south of Rapid City. There was not much road noise and the park was quiet, although we were there during the week. Very convenient to Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore. Park is gravel with small grass patch at each site. The office accepted packages for us, and staff was friendly. They did put a Y adapter on our water line when we were gone, not cool. They should have asked my husband to do it. We only noticed when the staff hooked up a hose to water the patch of grass. I know they have to water but still not cool touching people’s set up without asking. No shade. Had decent AT&T.

We chose this campground for the location. It’s a 30 minute drive to all the sites around Rapid City, including Mount Rushmore. The Camp Host was welcoming with great customer service. We were in spot 26 and it wasn’t quite level. A couple extra blocks solved the problem. WiFi was hit/miss for us. We used our Verizon hotspots with no trouble.
