Old Kowen Homestead Campground

Suitable for large organised groups and set in Kowen Forest, Canberra`s largest commercial pine plantation.
Kowen Forest (4,670 ha) is Canberra's largest commercial pine plantation, and is very popular with organised recreation groups including orienteering, bush walking, running, mountain bike riding, horse riding and car rallies. This scenic campground may be closed during fire danger periods and adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain. The campground is surrounded by an active pine plantation with heavy machinery. Please remain within the campground for safety reasons. The scenic and popular Old Kowen Homestead Recreation Area campground is suited to large organised groups and is a great base for events. The campground is accessed via a dirt road 10 km behind locked gates. Bring own drinking water and firewood. Fires are only allowed in the permitted fire pits.

Access
This site is accessable by caravans in good weather.

Getting there
16 km to Kowen Rd from the Federal Hwy along Sutton Road, near Sutton. 3.5km to Kowen Rd from the Kings Hwy off Yass Road near Queanbeyan (Off Kings Hwy turn into Yass Rd and follow for 2 km, then turn into Sutton Rd and follow for 1.5 km).
