We arrived at the campsite on an October Sunday, finding it only half occupied. By the following day, the number of campers had dwindled to around 10, giving us the feeling of having the entire place to ourselves. It was quite delightful. However, come Thursday, more people began to arrive, which was a pleasant change. Although we enjoyed the solitude, we also appreciated the company. By the time Friday rolled around, the campsite was bustling with activity as it was fully occupied. People were busy adorning their golf carts for the evening's golf cart parade. They were also preparing their haunted houses or themed camps for the trick or treaters expected on Saturday night. The sight was truly fascinating, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement. This probably explains why there were candy wrappers scattered around. We had initially planned to stay closer to Louisville, so booking this campsite was unintentional. However, it turned out to be the best accidental decision I’ve ever made. We're definitely planning to revisit this campsite in October to join in the Halloween celebrations again. It's advisable to make your reservations early, especially for the golf carts!

What a disappointment! I should have suspected this was not all milk and cookies when the gentleman who took us to our site (apparently employees are exempt from the stated speed limit, based upon how he and other staff zipped around) and has us pull straight into our pull-through site before telling us all the hookups were on the other side! So we pulled out and carefully navigated around another road and entered the site with the hookups on the same side as on our coach. CAUTION! Even though we are in a 31’ Class C towing a VW Beetle on a tow dolly, the park has tight turns and LOTS of trees to look out for. The long mostly level site had a concrete pad and patio. For reasons passing understanding, the heavy picnic table was on the site next to us, and when we called the office at 4:00, it was closed so we left a voice mail and hope a couple of staff show up to move onto OUR patio. The previous occupants of this slip were clearly a partying group, as evidenced by the confetti, candy wrappers, and other trash left behind for us. But the clear winner in the disappointment department was the mens bathrooms. Out of the three shower stalls, I chose the one with the least amount of mold and bad grout. Unfortunately it also had no water pressure and no hot water. The next least disgusting stall had lots of hot water and plenty of pressure. At least the shower stalls didn’t have dead insects in them, like the sinks. No cable, WiFi useless and five on-air channels came in on our amplified antenna. There is no shortage of unsupervised children around and plenty of golf carts too. Not what I expected for $70/night. Such a disappointment, given how beautiful the location is. Will not be back (I know - you guessed that!)

We specifically reserved the site we are due to its depth with our longer rig. We came in on a Sunday and while the checkin process was very pleasant, we drove all the way to our site only to realize it was occupied. Tried calling the check-in folks immediately, but of course the number they left on the check in sheet went unanswered. Folks finally started packing up the site after we told them that we were in 5D. 35 minutes later, we were able to get into our spot. Dish/DirecTV isn’t going to work in this spot. Spot is spacious. We’d return for sure, but with the amount of employees seemingly cruising around on golf carts, you’d think they would enforce checkout time, especially for sites in which there are people coming in that day. Frustrating start to what was an otherwise pleasant week.
