Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of the campground at Lake Placid / Whiteface KOA. Getting to the campground was no problem. All roads good. The roads in the campground are mostly gravel and dirt. They need to be smoothed out. The roads create a lot of dust when used. The trees are trimmed OK. The campground office was open and everyone was friendly. We were escorted to the site. They have a large camp store. Large parking area is provided while checking in. The road signage to our site was good. Sites have fire pits and they sell firewood. Our site was M26, a pull thru site with a picnic table. The campground has mostly shaded sites which shed tree debris all over your motorhome. Our site was not level. We had to use a whole set of wheel blocks. The site was dry. The site was gravel, but most sites are dirt. The campground has no seasonal folks. The bathhouse was poor. Laundry was OK. There was a small pool but it was not very inviting. There was a game room, but you have to pay for everything like pool, air hockey, fuss ball. There is no workout fitness room. There is no restaurant on site, but the campground is close to town. Cable TV service is available and good. Wifi was available but very very poor. No road noise to note. Our site was narrow and our awning hit the tree branches. Our site looked right into the bathhouse. We had to shut our front visor so we did not see everyone using it. Here is the bad. Roads are rough and dusty. Site was narrow, not level and faced the bathhouse. Wifi was very very poor. Cell service (Verizon) was bad. Tree debris was terrible. Maybe sites M27, D4, D5, D6, C4 & C5 would be good. I may come back, but not during springtime (early June). Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well...

Was greeted by very friendly staff who proceeded to escort my by golf cart to my site and assisted in positioning my unit. The site was a pull through, rather level and a combination of small gravel and dirt. There was a clean fire ring and a wooden picnic bench. The campground was quiet, you are able to call in and order firewood and it is delivered to the site. The campground is very shady. It is a great location to visit Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid, and Plattsburgh.

Our site was in the "newer" section. We had requested a quieter site away from the hustle and bustle, but were given a site directly across from the bathroom and in a section with lots of tenters. The sites here were super tight, the pool was nothing special and the mini golf was underwater in sections. (still had to pay to play, though). Kicker was that we called on the way because we were going to arrive around 2pm - only after realizing while in route that this particular campground had a 3PM check in time (as opposed to every other campground that we've stayed at with a 1pm check in for RV/tent sites) and were promptly told that we would have to pay a $25 fee for early check in (ONE HOUR EARLY). Seriously? With no other option b/c we we had nowhere to go to wait it out, we paid the ridiculous fee. Upon arrival, we found LOTS of empty sites, not sure what the early check in fee was all about - not like we were putting anyone out with having to rush to clear a site. Sewer pipes had no threads, so had to secure the hose with rocks. Not what I expected, but we were there to see Lake Placid and the surrounding area, so it was a place to park.

Campground is located close to hiking, fishing and area biking trails. Not far from Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Wilmington. The resort is large with a plenty of activities for the kids and trails on the property. Our site (row F) was a spacious pull thru with water and 30 amp hookups and relatively level. In the area that we were assigned, the sites are dirt and separated by trees with no undergrowth so we didn’t feel that it was private enough from adjoining sites. Got the feeling that the sites were overused from many campers. To the camp hosts credit, no trash lying about, fire ring was clean. There were other partial hookup sites that were more private so ask when booking. WiFi was very weak and barely worked. Better by the office. Bathroom were a little tired but clean in the early part of the day. Plenty of hot water in the shower. We stayed midweek in July, so it wasn’t too crowded. I can see weekends really filling up. Would return if able to book a different site.

This is a very nice KOA. Location is good, Our site is Good. Not sure about other reviewers, but no noise issues, typical RV Campground privacy. This isn't a state park with bushes between each site. We Work from our RV during the summer and Cell Service is minimal on Verizon, but acceptable for Video with a Cell Booster. Campground wifi, not good enough to stream tv. Would consider again if we came back. Campground is very wooded, but didn't have an issue getting our 36' Class A in or out.

Most expensive campground I have ever stayed in and the least private site I ever had. Not a winning combination!
