This place was in a great spot, walking distance from town and a park. Mount Rushmore Brewing co and pounding fathers restaurant was great, laundromat that takes coins or pay by phone nearby. The sites are pretty packed together. So there was a man who was pretty friendly to us upon arrival and complimented our dogs. We’re in a renovated school bus and our AC unit was down, so on two occasions (not even dark outside at this time) we ran our bus on idle for a few minutes to give it a cool off. He storms up to our bus doors and I open them up, my fiancé turned off the bus before he got a word in. His whole face and body was red and he said if we put our bus in idle again he’d show us to the street. There were no list of rules, no warning, just rudeness. He made me cry haha, my fiancé was sweet enough to drive us out of there after seeing me get so upset by him.

Called and Steve answered by giving his name. Already impressed. He was very helpful guiding me in to the spot. Mickelson trail out front and that was a great ride. Great location right in town.

Spent first night (Saturday night in dry camp spot across the street ($20.00) then moved into site#5 Sunday morning. We found the location to be excellent for walking around town, to the brewery, our dog on the wonderful paved path to the dog park and semi convenient to all the sites. 1st day drove to spearfish canyon and deadwood. 2nd day wildlife loop, center lake and Needles Highway. 3rd day Iron Mountain (Norbeck Overlook, Mount Rushmore, Hill City breweries) Dry camping offered more room and a little quieter but main side offered electric, sewer, water! The people we met in dry camp, they had 2 big slides and said they were stuck in dry camp as they were too wide to fit in main camping area…for those of you who are really wide. Staff was super friendly. Wifi only worked when in main drive entrance, could not/would not work while in trailer. Did not use the 2 bathrooms that are available as we are self contained and happy to use our own stuff. Would stay here again.
