Our 38' Super C and Ford Ranger Tow Car were comfortably accommodated in a back-in site at this park. There were also larger pull-through sites available, including some of the biggest I've ever seen at a park. This park stands out as one of the most impressive we've ever visited. The roads are made of solidly compacted gravel, and the sites are roomy with lush grass, a picnic table, fire pit, and grill. We spent four nights here and I was reluctant to leave. Although we didn't utilize the bathrooms and showers, I did inspect them and found them to be very clean. There are two showers located near the office. Ice is available for purchase at a fair price ($3 for 5#, $8 for 16#). The town of Custer is conveniently located just 5 minutes away. While we didn't dine out, there are several bars/grills in the area. There is also a grocery store with a decent selection, albeit a bit expensive, which is typical for a small tourist town. The park's location is ideal, with close proximity to local attractions like Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the entrance to Custer State Park. The Badlands are roughly an hour to an hour and a half away, and Rapid City is also within easy driving distance for larger supply runs. I wholeheartedly endorse this park and we plan to return!

Custer Gulch was a delight to visit. It was well-kept and spotless. There were no problems whatsoever, though the wifi was somewhat erratic. On the whole, it was excellent!

We needed full hooks between boondocking sites and wanted to explore the south part of the Black Hills. Custer’s Gulch fit the bill. The park is very clean, well organized, quite, away from the highway yet close to everything (Mt Rushmore, Custer SP, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, etc.) The sites are well separated with nice grass lawns between. Each site backs on to natural forested land so you don’t feel all bunched up.

This is a quiet campground with no road noise. The sites have plenty of green space and its really DARK at night (no park lights) so you have a great view of the stars. We stayed during the Buffalo round up so it was really busy but everybody was friendly. The only negative item was the dirt road as you drove into the park but otherwise it was very nice
