In general, the park was in good condition. The grassy areas were nicely groomed and the camping spots were adequately distanced from each other. Every spot came with a picnic table and a place for a fire. It seemed they took note of past feedback because the pit toilets were neat and well supplied with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and air fresheners. The cost was $20 per night, which I believed to be a fair price. The location was ideal with easy access to the picturesque highway 14 and a simple journey to Sheridan. I wouldn't mind returning to this place.

Quiet peaceful along the Tongue River. Pit Toilets clean. Convenient to I90. Water. No dump station.

I was hoping to find a dispersed site just up the road at Tongue River but all the sites were taken so I opted for this as I needed just one night on a drive thru. They call this a State Park/Historical Site but basically it’s a town park on the edge of Ranchester. The locals play in the river, picnic, and walk their dogs. It could be a nice park with a little maintenance. The bathrooms are pit toilets and they were disgusting. It’s obvious they don’t get frequent service so they were smelly and filthy. There is a train track nearby so a few times in the night you hear the whistles. It was tolerable for one night but I’ll pass on this place in the future.

Lots of trees. Quiet. Bathrooms were not great, but perfect overnight after long day of driving.
