Dirty and overcrowded expensive campsite. We estimated the population around 450 and only 3 showers and 4 toilets (cleaned only once a day). Garbagecontainers filled to the top and during our stay never emptied, so all the garbage was piled up against them. We had to pay 30€ for a very small 2-persons tent, a car (which you cannot park in the small and overcrowded parking lot) and 2 people. Add to that the TVA, tourist tax (5€ extra per person per night). 40€/day for pitching a tent? This made this dirty campsite twice as expensive as other (better) campsites in Austria. Unfriendly owner, big slow chubby guy with long grey hair and a beard. He argues with his guests and even yells and shouts at them. We saw him scolding at people multiple times. Be smart and leave. If you want to see Hallstatt and the surrounding area, you are better off at a campsite at Bad Aussee, Bad Goisern or Ramsau at the southern slope of the Dachstein Mountains and visit Hallstatt as a daytrip.
