Nice campground with great views of the blue ridge mountains. They have a multitude of differing campsites to choose from (camper, field tents, geo-dome, teepees, etc.). We met the owners upon arrival and they’re extremely nice. They offer ice and firewood on-site. We camped in tents at site #9 which is partially wooded and partially in the field. It’s the best tent-site in my opinion as it gives you privacy but a comfortable grassy area to spend your evenings in. Plenty of room for canopies and tents. As mentioned by other reviews, getting up here with a rig could be troublesome. There is a big class A here and two airstreams, so you can definitely do it though. The road is gravel and there is one steep climb. For about 1/4 mile the road is washed out on the right side, but any experienced tower should be fine. Cell coverage is 2 bars on Verizon for an iPhone 12.

This was my wife and I’s maiden voyage with our 27 ft. Airstream. After reading the reviews about the road headed to camp, I was slightly nervous. I found the climb to be easier than described in other reviews, and I am by no means an experienced tower! The campsite was wonderful, and has a beautiful view. A great way to watch the fall foliage change. Even when the site is full there is plenty of space at each site. There are trails on site and near by state parks to hike. We had been to Boone and blowing rock times in the past, and both are an easy drive. Unfortunately it rained a lot during our week, but there were many great activities in town for our 2 year old to enjoy as well.

First is the road in. It was very much in need of grading and narrowed down to barely wide enough for my narrow travel trailer. The road was gravel and had some steep climbs that required me to engage my 4WD. Once you got into the campground it was nice. The staff was very friendly and the bathroom were large and clean. A lot of the sites were around the perimerter and tucked back into the woods. Ours was perfect and had good shade. The other site are out in the open on grass. They have some really nice and private tent sites. Water was not at the sites but you could fill up on the way in. Nice elevation for cooler weather in the summer.

The dirt road to this campground could use some maintenance. The limbs are a little low for bigger rigs. We did not hit any but I could see a Fifth Wheel or Driving RV hitting. The campground is very well maintained and staff was nice. I believe this campground is best for camper vans, tent camping, and smaller travel trailers. NO Service, NO WiFi.

We camped in C-3 in our 30 ft motorhome. Mike, the caretaker, is awesome and very helpful. He made sure the road up was clear of passing vehicles before we ascended the gravel road to the campground entrance. Take your time going up and don’t drive faster than 5 mph and you’ll be fine. Once you reach the top of the mountains, it’s Valhalla! The campground is beautiful beyond words, surrounded by mountains, extremely clean with spacious campsites. There are numerous, well maintained hiking trails to enjoy. Some of the trails are fairly strenuous so it makes for a great daily workout. Our lab loved playing in the pond. The private individual bathrooms are very clean. The mountains are visible in all direction- it’s simply gorgeous. There is no water hook up at the individual sites however it’s very easy to fill your water tanks at the office before you settle in. The staff is very helpful and eager to offer assistance. You’re gonna love this place.
