This was our first stay at this park. We came in at night and so couldn’t see much. We woke up to a gorgeous view outside our windows! Large clean wooded sites. Bathhouse was clean. Showers are in individual rooms with locks on the doors. Hot water and great water pressure. The playground was AMAZING. My kids loved it. The whole park was calm and peaceful. There was plenty of staff in the park and park rangers were continually driving around. We are full timers and travel with our large family. Everyone said this was one of their favorites. We will definitely be coming back when we are in the area. The only downside to this one was there was not complete full hookups. There was electric at each site, shared water with other sites. There is a dump station as you pull out of the park.

Lovely campground with a bunch of trails for dog walks. Bathrooms were very clean as well as the showers. About a half hour from Chesapeake. The water supply situation was a bit of a pain. Water spouts were shared, which was fine but not every site was close enough to s spout to fill a tank. So we had to sneak over to another site while the person was away, fill our camper and then drive back. It would have been better if there was a centralized spout that didn't make us feel like we were invading someone else's space. We also visited Great Dismal Swamp while we were here which was.. well... dismal. Don't recommend that.

Nice Campground. Large Wooded Sites. Lots of hiking and Kayaking. Went for quick weekend trip since It’s close To home and definitely will come back. Only negative thing was the water connection. Most electric sites share a connection so bring splitter and extra hose or two. On Reserve America water was shown next to site 6 but that was not the case so check the campgrounds map or fill your tank like we did.

The campground was nicely wooded. Despite the heat, the environment was pretty comfortable. We had a pull through site and it was HUGE! This was our fifth trip and by far the most space we’ve had. I’d say it was very quiet at night and fairly quiet during the day. Water is shared between sites, but it seemed to work without any issues. The bathhouses were adequate but a little mildewed. I didn’t feel like they were disgusting or unsanitary but they aren’t what you’ll expect to find at places like a KOA. We had intended on using some of the parks services but with all the hiking and bike riding, we didn’t make it to the water for and kayaking or boating. Mini golf and disc golf were also both available but we didn’t use those either. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The camp store is pretty minimal, but does off a small selection of snacks and drinks. It’s a great place to spend time. We will be happy to visit again.

We really enjoyed our visit here. Things I wish I knew ahead of time though: not all sites have water and those that do are shared. You’ll need a y-connector for your hose. You’ll also need a decent amount of hose (50 ft should reach), my 25 foot hose was too short. Alcohol isn’t allowed anywhere on the campground (possibly not aggressively enforced though). Overall it’s a great campground for the cost. The sites are good sized, decently level gravel, shaded and aren’t crammed together. There are new, well kept playgrounds, mini golf, and a river for fishing (permit required), kayaking/canoeing. There are several trails for hiking. A small camp store where you can rent kayaks/canoes/life vests. There are bath houses but I didn’t use them. My son really enjoyed the playground and wildlife (plenty of lizards and frogs roaming around). Dump station is on the way out near dumpsters and has water for easy cleanup. Overall I’m very impressed and would definitely visit again!

All the other reviews are correct, this is a lovely park and campground with awesome new shower and bath faculties. We were in an electric only site; the shared water source was too far away to connect( and when we filled our tank from portable containers we discovered the water was slightly greenish-gold so didn’t use it. At the bottom of the loops there is some traffic noise from a nearby highway during commuting hours.

We stayed here to visit Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Chincoteague. There are not that many hookup spaces, but, 2 of them are very good for long rigs and are pull through. Otherwise, there are many spaces for tents and smaller rigs. They change the pass code on the gate regularly, so the staff actually called me and gave me the codes. So nice! There are several trails to walk toward the river. And so lots of places to walk the dog. When you get to the river there is a modern dock, a refreshment stand with indoor meeting area (closed for the season), picnic tables, and benches throughout. Everything looked new! At the campground, the buildings also looked new. There was a shower/restrooms building and a laundry / restrooms building. The laundry room was locked after dark. There are a couple of playgrounds, and at the entrance there are paddle boats/canoes to rent. This would be a great place to take your family.

Sites were spacious, not super private but clean and well kept. Our dogs and us really enjoyed the walking trails and the river. We’d stay here again if we pass through!

We stopped by here on a whim to hike and kill some time and after seeing it, we booked two nights here at an electric site. I absolutely love it. Well maintained sites and a nice dump station. They also offer propane service. The bath houses are brand new and equipped with private shower rooms each with air conditioning. The trails are well maintained, though do get a little muddy after a hard rain. You can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats or bikes to meander the park and it's little river system (or use your own). The river itself is beautiful, calm waters that's easy to paddle. And they stock it for fishing. Perhaps in the past this was an iffy campground, but not anymore. I'd definitely return here.
