A little way up the highway east out of Ft Bragg in the woods. Mostly full timers or permanent transients by the look of it. Ugly yard of on-site RV and boat storage alongside basic campground. No charms, nuts to butts crowded. A list of rules that seemed out of proportion to the amenities of the place. Brassy manager in front office who clearly eschewed any COVID precautions (or simple courtesy to a customer, for that matter). it was a place to sleep, dump, recharge, that's it. Nice grassy area near us for dog to romp a bit. Not my cuppa tea and didn't like the boss lady's attitude.

I realize that Mom and Pop RV parks were probably hurt a lot harder than the bigger RV parks, but that notwithstanding, I still was really disappointed in our two day experience at this site. First, the site seems to be majority full timers- not necessarily a bad thing since I had a nice conversation with a neighbor who was living there full time- but it seemed the most attention by "staff" was focused on those tenants, and others were treated as an annoyance. We had two technical questions regarding internet (we were about 20 feet from the office and never had internet) and cable, and the curt response was, " I don't know about those things, and my husband is Elk hunting". So, my personal thought is, if you want to run a good operation, you either have the two main people on the site, or the husband trains someone to cover while he is vacationing.

The park welcomes both travelers and permanent residents. All the resident sites were in good repair and free of outdoor clutter. Our site was level and everything was well kept. There were several sites for tents and a huge field for kids and dogs. We originally booked for showers and laundry, both of which were extremely clean, but we did not expect to have an incredible hiking experience as well. There’s a trail at the back of the park that leads into Jackson Demonstration Forest, through huge redwood trees and creeks. Several waterfalls, lots of birds. The hike is mostly shaded, so you don’t get overheated. We took the trail for miles and only saw two other people. Absolutely pleasantly surprised. This park is 100% worth the nightly rate because it’s in a perfect location to enjoy the beauty of the area in a type of seclusion that you wouldn’t get at the typical tourist destinations.
