Arrived after dark, but quickly found a level place to park. Nice quite place to camp. Beats CB’s

This is a well-maintained park. I am currently at the main pier on the north end of the park. There are several garbage cans near a lot of fire pits. The gravel in was smooth sailing. I did cross a wooden bridge on the west side of the park - the sign claims 4 tons, but it made me a bit nervous. I will probably hop around sites tomorrow to see if I can find better cell service; it's the only detraction I have for this park.

We like to take 2-lane roads on our adventures and US Highway 24 passes about one mile South of the lake. It is about a two mile drive around the lake with many areas suitable to park a motorhome or trailer. Several tent campers were also there the weekend we arrived. Lots of fishermen and several boats were on the lake. There is a "Pony" Bridge on the road at the West side of the lake which has a 10-ton limit and sharp curves on the approach, so bigger units should go East across the dam. The nearby town of Morland has a great little store, "the Morland Mercantile," for groceries, beer and live bait. They have lots of Kansas-made products, including locally raised beef and pork, cheeses, honey, flavored bread mixes, frozen cookie dough and more. It has an old-time atmosphere with wooden floors and a pressed tin ceiling, which I was told are over 100 years old. The store is open Monday through Friday from 9 am - 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm. The manager also prepares hot lunches Monday though Friday, with a table available inside or out, and take-out containers if you want to go back to the lake to eat. They also slice deli meat and cheese to order and prepare fresh sandwiches. This is a great stop not too far off the beaten path! The Morland City Park also has a free dump station and a water hydrant available.

We pulled in at 11pm. It’s definitely off the path from traveling on the 70 - but we enjoyed our 1 nighter. The road in is nice, hard packed dirt. We couldn’t tell where we were going since black outside lol, but saw a fire pit and trash can and parked. We woke to a beautiful lake. If you’re into fishing, chilling, and biking around the lake I’d stay 2 nights. We just passed thru. FYI there were millions of bugs surrounding our headlights pulling in so we didn’t go outside at night.

I was driving from the Mountains of Colorado to Kansas City and stopped here for the night. The roads around the lake are gravel and there are unmarked places around the lake where you can stop for the night. There is also a larger parking area halfway around the lake that has docks but it quiet. I was only here overnight on a Thursday so it may be different on the weekends. I barely hada 3G connection The lake is 30 miles north of I-70 so it is a little out of the way.
