About The Hatchery

The Hatchery is a rustic beach and lagoon experience, situated about 15 minutes drive from Mtunzini and set against a backdrop of a beautiful river and overlooking a nature reserve, island and deserted beach. The Hatchery was originally a prawn breeding facility and it now makes for a unique destination experience for visitors to the North Coast. The facility has been ‘lightly’ renovated - the end result is a unique blend of comfort and rustic cool. The Hatchery is all about chilling out, letting loose and reconnecting. The rustic accommodation comprises a selection of rooms and a rooftop tent suited to accommodate up to 49 guests. We offer self catering accommodation and bringing your own supplies in is recommended. The rooms are equipped with linen, bedding, towels and air-conditioning. The communal kitchen and dining table is fully equipped and kitted for self catering. Other facilities include a swimming pool, braai area, conference facilities and secure parking. Guests are welcome to making use of the communal kitchen and dining table to suit their self-catering needs.
